The great thing is that Madejski goes ballistic when people pronounce/spell his name incorrectly - so the more mispellings the better!!

Just noticed there is an Anti Madejski Facebook group now!

If Facebook can get Rage Against The Machine a Christmas Number one, then hopefully it will get this money grabbing twassock out of the club

Be careful what you wish for. If he walked out and gave the club to the supporters for £1 [as happened at Stockport] how long do you really believe a supporters trust could cope? No disrespect to the Trust movement in general [or STAR in particular] but I do not think there would be any prospect of survival....

And if he is forced out what other egomaniac would be likely to want to take over knowing the fans will at some stage turn on him.

I do not admire a great deal of the Mad M.O. - but he has [over decades] been a success. His businesses are in doodie at the moment, but so are thousands of others. So perhaps we need to trust in the devil we know?

And if [? when] we are back in the 3rd tier we will perhaps regroup. Leeds have done so, Charlton are doing so, Soton are rising, Barnsley have recovered.... There is so much more to watching a Club than being in the PL. There again the glory hunters who tagged along were so happy to chuck cash into the PL coffers via admission fees that they cannot seem to see a difference between their £40 ticket and a club getting £40 mill from TV. Fans are insignificant at the top - but we are the lifeblood in the lower tiers.

I will still watch RFC if we sink as low as Oxford did [another club seemingly recovering] - perhaps the critics need to have a word with themselves and either support the club or shove off. Yes, it is sad that we have plummeted. Yes investment might have helped - just as it saved Leeds, Bradford and many others  .

Well I'm rambling now so it is time to go - but do consider whether you are part of the solution; or just exacerbating the problem...

Most things Cowell touch turn to gold - I would be happy to see him take over. Even if he failed as badly with us as he did with McElderry and only got us to 2nd it would be fine

Wow what an opportunity on Saturday Live on TV, for everyone to turn on Madejski, as with Portsmouth last night singing "Sack the Board" & "Where has all the Money Gone" united and loud on tv, nno doubts where their hearts are !!

Give the prick so much shit that there will be no doubts about what the fans feel,

We've been through a cycle of failure before under Madejski, and eventually the success came back, with knobs on. The idea that we may have to do so again depresses me, but I don't see any evidence that Madejski has lost interest. His method (Burns's initial cash spree excepted) has always been to set a budget and stick to it. I agree with Working Class Hero that the "Madejski out!" people should be careful what they wish for. Fortunately, Madejski has always said he'd only sell to someone who was good for the club, and that reassures me. Imagine if we'd been sold to the same Arab guys that are messing Portsmouth about. People on here would have been saying: "At last we can go places, we're owned by Arabs!"

BEcause our situation is just like Portsmouths isn't it

And as mentioned before what "the fans" feel isn't necessarily as vociferous as what a small group of people on the internetz feel. enjoy yourself trying to get on the telly though, did you wear a santa outfit on boxing day?

Bear in mind there are some very vociferous fans on HNA who don't actually attend many games. Which doesn't mean they don;t have the right to an opinion, and doesn't mean they are not fans. It just means they are less likely to do much more than fan the flames on here....

I still laugh whenever I see someone advocating that the board is 'sacked'.

I'm not sure anyone does really advocate that. It's just another joky heading on this site. Fans are fully aware that owners can't be sacked. Though some might want a protest to drive Madejski into selling to the nearest wide boy. Which he won't.

Indeed, this is spot on. Unfortuantely, some people on here will start to believe that what we need is someone new, not the person who made this club. Without Mr Mad, there would not be a Reading FC to moan about. Just thought I would mention it.

Absolutely,we have certainly been through worse times. I still get shivers of fear remembering the plans of Maxwell for Thames Valley Royals although that was pre Mr Mad.

Could we start a sub forum for those who have only experienced the Madstad days. Hob Nobeebies perhaps?

Anyone who can remember the last anti-chairman protest will remember that it almost cost us the club.

Frank Waller got lots of stick so he sold out to Robert Maxwell and we faced a much worse scenario. Can young fans really imagine merging with Oxford United? That's how Waller tried to get his revenge.

Madejski is nowhere near as bad as Waller but the over reaction on here is depressing.

Why don't we just face it - for better or worse we're stuck with the devil we know.
SJM doesn't really want to sell the one thing that has given him his high profile (hence the high asking price) and apart from a few dodgy characters it's doubtful there's anyone out there who'd really want to buy the Club anyway.
Some of SJM's other businesses are supposedly in trouble and he may well be regretting getting involved in the Station Hill development where the company he chairs (and Howe and Wood-Smith are both Directors) must have spent millions in obtaining the planning approval and acquiring property with no idea in the current climate when they will see a return.
SJM has therefore taken the view with the football club that he's not going to attempt to support it any more, even in the relatively limited way he has before, so we are stuffed with the current situation. The only hope is that he appoints a manager who can save us from relegation without any additional resources.
Perhaps Howe should depart permanently to property development and his salary used to fund the manager or playing resources?

Trouble with some of that is that the payback on a massive development like Station Hill would be years anyway. It's not even been started yet so irrespective of the 'current climate' it wouldn;t be a money making venture for maybe 5 years. In fact it's probably a good time to be embarking on such a venture as it would be coming on stream when the economy is in better shape. The developers with problems are those who have big new schemes completed now and are struggling to get tenants. SJM would not have planned for Station Hill to be anything other than an expense for several years yet. Of course if for other reasons his empire has cash flow issues it won;t be a good position to be in !

As for saving Howe's salary, that would leave a gap and someone would still need to do the CE role. Presumably we could get Ron Grant in to do it but would that be sensible ? There are loads of ways the club could save money (not employ any stewards, keep the floodlights turned off, not wash the kit, close the ticket office) but would they actually make business sense. Does NH get paid the market rate for his job ? If so getting rid of him wouldn;t save us anything.
