Mr Optimist I still remember the miserable train journey back as well being herded back to Swindon station. Also, someone on the train being asked to give up his seat by an old lady who promptly told her to oxford off as he thought he had broken his ankle in the "melee" after the match.

I also went back by train, and remember a group of Swindon lads pulling into the car park on the other side of the track and taking the piss.

It went on for a while, but then they seemed to get angry that we were laughing at them, as they couldn't see what was funny. They of course, unlike us, couldn't see the police van entering the car park behind them, heading in their direction.

Ark Royal To me, the Jerkies have always been the local rivals but as far as stuff kicking off in and out of the ground, it was always Aldershot. Was a regular visitor from 66/67 (cup replay at the Rec with record crowd of 16,500(!) crammed inside) right up until our last visit there in 91(?). That last game was oxf*rd awful and only a last minute goal from Stuart Beavon salvaged a point. Always thought the Rec was a quirky ground but with character and I used to like the view from the corner terracing below the railway line.

I remember going to the FA Cup game at the Rec. Record crowd (may still stand). Thing is I can't remember the date only that someone in the crowd died. He was taken past us on a stretcher and it was in the paper later in the week that he had died. Can anyone remind me of the date, I can't even find it on Google.

16th January 1967. Crowd officially given as 16,801. Rearranged as the original was twice postponed. Incredibly, they manage to squeeze 19,138 into the Rec in 1970 for a FA Cup 4th round tie against Carlisle.

The last league game for us there was Easter Monday 89.

That was the worst crush i have been in, you coudnt lift your arms in the away end.

Scary stuff, just a week afer Hillsborough.

I would love to see us there again for a big game. Dont know why but i miss being a bit scared at a ground.
