Mr Angry .......Brian Laws, recently sacked at Sheffield Wednesday.
Burnley fans must be spitting nails at this; bringing in a guy sacked last Month from the bottom of the Championship!

Smoking Kills Dancing Doe There's just no one out there.
We've got the same problem.
Not a signal of intent to stay up though is it?...

Did a fantastic job at Scunny. However, if I was a Dingle, I would be extremely underwhelmed by this appointment.

winchester_royal Coppell and O'Driscoll would have both been realistic, better alternatives.

Thaumagurist* Sorry, I don't watch that shit.

Focher Apparently the main reason he was appointed was because, according to some report called the Deloitte Touche study (or something), he was proved to be the top championship manager between 2006-2009 in relation to the budget he had.
3m compo for Coyle, the payments you get for being in the premier league, you would not have thought this would be the main motivation for the Burnley board, saving money.
I hope the guy does well, he seems a genuine football man, but i will be placing him straight into my managerial sack race competition.

Is suspect they may be realistic about their chances of staying there long term. They may stay up this season, but how long can it last. If they don't have someone willing to chuck millions at them each season, this could actually be an excellent appointment.
Laws comes in, gets them playing above the budget they allow themselves, don't increase the wages and expenditure, bank the excess prem money until they're inevitably relegated, use the money to grow the club's infrastructure and they have a good manager in charge to get them through the cost cutting down a level while hopefully maintaining a top of the table challenge for getting back up there with more chance of staying next time.

Sounds perfect Ian, but i can't for the life of me see it working that way.
Those that have taken average gambles on spending, Stoke, Hull, Wolves, and Bolton seem at the moment to have paid off, i just can't see with an attitude like that how they are going to succeed.

Victor Meldrew So does that now put O'Driscoll in the frame for our manager's job?
