Care to elaborate a bit further for those of us who don't buy the programme.

Burnley's record loss was 11-0 to Darwin OW, one of 4 clubs from Darwin to play in the FA cup in the 1880's..... "However that does not compare with reading - the royals are one of 6 different clubs to have played in the FA Cup"

The programme does not elaborate anything more than the "6 Reading teams" statement.....we need a David Downs moment

can only imagine that it includes the Reading temperance/Wednesday league etc from dark and distant days gone by when everybody got a shot at the big time and when Rabsons Rovers used to get crowds of over 2k

Reading Football Club
Reading Town Football Club

That's two for starters.

FTR - Reading Town lost 3-1 away at Bishop's Cleeve in the Preliminary Round (the round before the 1st Qualifying round).

Reading Hornets is the other one that I'm aware of.

I'd welcome some other sad twat to come onto this thread and fill in the gaps.

Literary joke. Far too cultured for most of HNA.

Far-sighted decision by Birmingham to get their team sponsored by a spreadsheet.

Trojans - blah blah something about strong defences capable of withstanding a siege or similar.

Druids vs Church wasn't up to much but there was a lot of heated theological debate on the touchline.

Just as a taster:

Reading Hornets - formed in 1873, entered FA Cup the season before Reading so were the first of the six. Then merged with Reading, the new club being called Reading. Played most home games at Reading Recreation Ground (Kings Meadow as is now).

Reading Abbey - don't know much about them.

Reading Minster - played at Downshire Square (don't know exactly where that means as I can't see how to fit a football pitch into that area), then at Caversham Place Park (i.e. what is now the BBC Monitoring Service place) and then at the Rifle Range at Coley (that's the first field south of Coley).

South Reading - played at Whitley Park Farm and then later at Mr Colebrook's farm - at least one of those is the Cintra Park area.

Reading Town - no need to mention them here

The Cube Reading Minster - played at Downshire Square (don't know exactly where that means as I can't see how to fit a football pitch into that area),

Maybe behind the Parsonage on what is now Lima Court? All Saints' Church on Downshire Square started as a daughter church of Reading Minster (aka St. Mary's in the town centre), the football team surely must have had a connection.
