Terminal Boardom And wasn't she Wayne Bridge's ex anyway?

According to the Mail (yes, I know), yes.
Daily Mail Friends said Terry’s affair began soon after Miss Perroncel, a lingerie model, split from Bridge last summer.

LoyalRoyalFan Terrible decision. This may cost us our World Cup chances.

Best thing is it is a decision, it's been made and now everyone can get on with things. It won;t cost us our World Cup chances.

LoyalRoyalFan Private matters shouldn't reflect into footballing decisions. Terry is a good leader and was best suited for that role in an England shirt. To drop him all together would be ludicrous.

Wake up. Terry brought private matters into football and it's been left up to others to sort the mess he created. If he was any kind of a leader he would have offered his resignation. Being the person he is he didn;t do that. Whether dropping him altogether would be going too far I'm not sure but I suspect he may be saved by the fact we aren't exactly blessed with in form centre backs.

There's no doubt he should have gone, the crying shame is that I don't rate any of current England squad as good replacements :|

Lets just hope Ferdinand can get himself fully fit rather than injured every so often otherwise Mr Capello will be having to make another change.

TBH I don't really care. I would rather Reading did something special than England won the world cup. I think that JT is a complete and utter pcunt and the rest of the overpaid crybabies can just do one.

Except Rooney, Gerard, Defoe and Lennon. Bollox to the rest of them.

So for those that see the role as one of PR and media commitments what do posters think of Ferdinand's selection and will he turn up?
Has there ever been an uglier England captain or did one of the Nevilles wear the armband?
And will he lead by example on the pitch dishing out forearm smashes when the ref isn't watching?
A great role model on and off the pitch (not).

Great - the new England captain is thicker than the last. Rooney must be in with shout on that basis.

A no brainer from Cappello's point of view. I think his only decision was to keep him in the squad or not.

Given all the dicipline he preaches, he basically had the choice of sacking Terry or resigning. Had he not acted he would have lost the dressing room.

Cappello just gets better and better - he really doesn't take any shit. As if anyone now needs reminding that there's only one way - his way.

Bullshit.

I was in the anti-Rodgers camp.

Yep, exactly. He dint get to be the worlds best manager by pussyfooting around.

My only gripe is we now have a total gimp as Captain.

Dishing out a bit of physical stuff didnt stop Butcher, Robson, Shearer or Beckham being decent captains, or the likes of world cup winning captains like Dunga, Cannavaro, Deschamps, Matthaus and Passarella

No Fixed Abode
Tredder Fabio is a legend, no fck arsing about, captaincy - GONE !

Thing is m8 - we've now got two players as captain and vice captain who on current form shouldn't be in the England Squad. Not only that, one is a drugs cheat and the other has punch ups in bars and nearly gets sent down. Well done CapeLOLOLo.

Punch ups in bars, you mean like Terry and his nightclub bouncers?

I think it is fair to say that only one has gone to court.

I assume you are against Gerrard being Liverpool Captain then after he attacked a DJ who refused to play Phil Collins?

I'm surprised to many people are bringing up Rooney's temperament and the granny shagging episode. I can't remember him doing anything similarly stupid in the last 2 years. You have to remember that he was very young when these things happened and had been greatly thrust into a lot of limelight for somebody his age. The way he has matured in the past couple of years makes him a candidate, just as Beckham matured after the Argentina game.

He can inspire confidence with his brilliance and put fear into opposing sides. His workrate and teamwork leads by example. I'd give him the captaincy.

Still think Rooney is too much of a hot head to captain the side

He has enough on his plate carrying them at times to lumber him with the added pressure of being captain

For me Ferdinand falls into the same box as Gerrard whose performances for England might be enhanced by the captaincy. Rooney has really developed the last 18 months, and I wouldn't want to curtail that by giving him the responsibility of captaincy going into a World Cup. I don't think Rio will let us down.
