Standing Allowed at RFC !!!!!

by Harpers So Solid Crew » 10 Feb 2010 09:06

Was fairly enertaining watching the Tango's trying to get Plymouth fans to sit.

However I noticed that if you are stood in the Directos box it is ok, Hammond was stood for ages, and as there were not many moments of excitement he cannot claim that's the reason. Reported to the club, and they are going to keep an eye out.

PS there were more than just Hammond standing.

That's how I soak my feet as well.

Nobody may stand in any seating area whilst play is in progress. Persistent standing in seated areas whilst play is in progress is strictly forbidden and may result in ejection from the Ground.

Those are the ground regs you agree to when buying a ticket. Club employees aren't subject to them whilst working.....

I once stood up in my seat and walked to the toilet while the game was on, was so dangerous I'm never doing it again!

Of course standing in front of your seat before the game and during half time id perfectly fine and much less dangerous than standing in front of your seat while the game is on, heaven forbid!

Steward number 19 not only stands in the way of the exit to the concourse, he has now taken to watching the match instead of the supporters (which is what I thought he was paid to do) - therefore, I am more than happy to wear a shitty coloured fluorescent top whilst sat in my seat watching the game, having a quick peek to make sure no-one is standing every now and again and get paid for it.

A potty underneath the seat will both sort out the ned to nip to the toilet and also the standing issue as the seat flips back.

Last night the back few rows of Y25/26 stood unopposed for large parts of the match. I can only recall one occasion of being asked to sit down. This rather relaxed attitude of the stewards seemed have a positive affect on the atmosphere. IMO our fans were a bit louder than normal and staying with the team until the end. Usually frustrated fans will go silent once things don't go our way but its obviously a sign of the backing BM has.

Special metion to the extended 'Brian McDermott's Barmy Army!' chant. Who'd have thought it, RFC fans sustaining a chant for more than thirty seconds! Good effort by all.

Must of been short of staff i reckon after they had to actually do something useful when the Barnsley fans tried to get through the safety gate! Noticed the camera was pointing at Y25 most of the evening though.

Would be good if this relaxed attitude was used for the cup on Saturday as there's 4,000 (bound to be) standing Baggies coming.

They damn well should do if they are merely watching the game! How is them standing any less dangerous! In fact Hammond is probably a greater risk than others - he didn't end up with the nickname 'Hapless' for no reason at all!! And, I don't believe the stewards stand in the seated areas. As for your comment about concourses

My kids once got a warning from a steward (and told they were being monitored on CCTV) for standing in front of their seats before the game!!!  Led to a bit of a confrontation with me, during which I insisted he brought over his supervisor to explain why no action was being taken against everyone else who was doing the same, and to plan mass evictions of supporters during half-time!!

I stood for the whole game today, and the stewards didn't even bother coming up the stairs.

Pretty much the same experience RB. The stewards only seem to challenge small groups or individuals, but as the game actually had some passion i think the softly softly approach was adopted. Refreshing to see for a change.
