Wayne Bridge

by exileinleeds » 25 Feb 2010 11:40

Has decided that his inclusion in the team would be divisive, and has ruled himself out of the England team. He wishes the team all the best in South Africa.

Media talk......he would not give up the chance the play for England at the world cup (probably his last chance to) over something he's known about for longer than we have and has had time to "get over". The good old British media trying to cause negativity in the squad as usual.

He has made a statement. It is breaking news on Sky.

Personally I rate both Stephen Warnock and Leighton Baines as better options than Bridge - does that answer your question?

BobKnows And the statement is.... :?:

...Bridge's statement said: "I have thought long and hard about my position in the England football team in the light of the reporting and events over the last few weeks.

"It has always been an honour to play for England. However, after careful thought, I believe my position in the squad is now untenable and potentially divisive.

"Sadly, therefore, I feel for the sake of the team and in order to avoid what will be inevitable distractions, I have decided not to put myself forward for selection.

"I have today (Thursday) informed the management of this decision. I wish the team all the very best in South Africa

Although I'm firmly Team Bridge, I do feel like he's taken the easy way out here. Disappointing, but as mentioned we do have Baines and Warnock (and Shorey  )

Our back 5 for the WC is looking a bit of a mess at the moment, Ferdinand & Johnson seem to have ongoing injuries, Ashley Cole probably will be fit in time, but without match practice, and the person who seemingly appeared to be our no.1 is now pretty much 3rd choice at his club.

I didn't realise Baines was English, he's much better than Bridge anyway, no great loss and you can understand his reasons, i can see him not playing at the weekend as well.

Oh well done Wayne....why don't you go and join your friend Jamie Carragher and share a good sob in the corner about how "difficult" your life is ... OR MAN UP AND GROW SOME BALLS.

Women will come and go but a chance to play in the World Cup for your country...?

Yep, no doubt the moronic BNP voting skin-head builders called Nige who follow 'the Chels' will gave Bridge all manner of abuse whilst overlooking their truculent hero's indiscretions. Bridge's only crime is in getting together with a slut of a woman in the first place. Terry is a very apt cult hero at a vile club like Chelsea.

Seriously, does everyone need to be in either camp Terry or camp Bridge?

They're both a couple of class oxf*rd.

I don't understand why Martin Butler and Jamie Cureton didn't get this sort of abuse for sleeping with fellow players wives whilst at Reading.........

Milner will play left back, if Cole is not fit, which he will be anyways.

Bridge just seems to have lost his way the last 3/4 years, after he looked like a more reliable version of Cole at Southampton.

I know its been discussed a million times before, but can we just clarify: was Bridge still with his missus when she slept with Terry, and they broke up as a result of that OR did they break up, then she got with Terry? I always got the impression it was the former, but the media and most others seem to think its the latter. The latter being out of order but nowhere near as bad as the former

Either way, he does need to man up a bit. Last chance to play at a WC in your life, oxf*rd whats going on in your personal life, go for it. Not as if hes a hated figure. His choice though

Martin Butler and Jamie Cureton managed to play with each other, and their team. I couldn't give a oxf*rd what else they were doing.
