TBM :? If that was a goal kick then the goal should not have stood and a corner should have been given

Check out the last action - the ball strikes the goalie's right leg as it crosses the line. As it was an outfield player (no 3) that took the goal kick, the goal stands.

also, if they knew how the wind was, surely kicking it straight down the middle of the pitch wasn't too bright? get it out to the flanks and let the full-back deal with it, not the keeper

Had the keeper touched it before going in then the correct decision would be for the goal kick to be retaken as it had not been touched by another player before leaving the penalty area.

True, but didn't it go far enough downfield to clear the penalty area (albeit in the air)? If so it would then be in play.

The key being that it was not touched by anyone OUTSIDE the penalty area.

Why? The ball left the penalty area so it was in play. The goalie didn't take it and the player taking the goalkick didn't touch it again.
