World Cup Squad - GK

Who would be your goalkeeper for the World Cup?

I would go for Robinson. Been there and done it before, and for me still looks the best keeper we can choose from.

we always used to have great goalies, from Banks to Seaman, who saved us on many occasions. I do not think James is worse than any of the others, but we have no-one world class, I'm afraid.

ditto centre forwards, where it is a joke to be stuck with Crouch and Heskey (much as I love both of these tbf).

I find it rather disturbing that we can only rely on the goalkeeper who regularly plays for the bottom team and ships a lot of goals.

I seem to remember thinking the same when Peter Shilton played for Southampton and I remember somebody commenting that he lets in many goals because he has a shit defence in front of him....I wonder if this is the same case as for David James?

James, Robinson, Green, in that order.

James, Robinson, Hart

Hart needs to go to get the tournament experience as he sohuld be our keeper for much of the next decade. bit harsh on Green who I like but he doesn't half look mentally suspect

^^ This.

Green should never have played for England in the first place.

David James for sure. I love him, despite his shitness.

Don't like Robert Green at all. Looks like a bumpkin and makes me nervous every time the ball goes near him.

Definitely James. By a long long way as well as long as he is fit and able to play.

Got the experience, got better with age, still tarred by imbeciles because of a dodgy 18months for Liverpool back in the 90's, forgetting all the games before that when he was quality, and especially since where he's been brilliant everywhere he's been.

I've never particualrly rated Green, Hart has had a good season so should probably go. Robinson for me has been the most overrated goalkeeper in this country for a long long time but in fairness to the man he has done pretty well for Blackburn this season. Think it's a toss up between him and Green who would be 3rd choice for me.

James should absolutely start though and if he doesn't it will be a horrendous decision from Fabio.

None of them fill me with confidence.

I have never seen why people have raved about Green. Robinson is a better keeper, but for a few cock ups that have knocked his confidence. Hart is up and coming. James is 'experienced' but prone to the odd mistake still. Robinson/James very much of a muchness.

This position is a concern.

James for his experience. I think that if Heart can keep his form up then he will be No. 1 for the 2012 Euros and beyond.
