Bulls Up For Sale

Graham Turner has put his, and Joan Fennessey's, shares in the club up for sale.

A statement on the official site this afternoon reads: 'After very careful consideration I have decided to put my shares in the Club up for sale. Vice Chairperson, Joan Fennessy has also taken the decision to offer her shares for sale. It is felt that the Club requires fresh impetus in order to take it forward.

The Club itself is in good shape, the prospect of redevelopment with funding available from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, the security of a new long lease for Edgar Street in the pipeline and financial stability produced from trading profitably for the past six years, make it an attractive proposition.

There has been a considerable amount of hard work put into the Club in order to secure it's long term future, therefore we are determined that whoever takes on the top positions at the Club are fit and proper persons and are involving themselves in the Club for sound football reasons, but also with the appropriate business acumen to ensure its future prosperity.

In the meantime the Club will continue to operate in accordance with good business practise and professionalism.'

Is the Vice Chairperson (wtf?), Joan Funnyfanny, his partner in more ways than one?

Well she isn't his wife, but that doesn't mean anything I suppose.

I'd imagine he wanted to get out for a while but probs wanted to wait until at least the threat of relegation back out of the league had been extinguished.

He has given an awful lot to the club over the years though so hopefully it is well appreciated in that part of the world? How is the news going down locally?

From Bulls news:

The worst kept secret in English football is out in the open with even the BBC now acknowledging that Graham Turner will be named as Shrewsbury's new boss tomorrow.

The BBC reports that 'BBC Radio Shropshire understand Turner, 62, will take up the post with a young coaching team under him.'

He left Shrewsbury back in 1984 after nearly six seasons, guiding them into what is now the Championship and holding their place in the second tier until he opted for the bright lights of Aston Villa.
