Championship relegation battle

by Messiah » 18 Apr 2010 17:17

2 games to play, Wednesday a point behind Palace and they both meet on the final day of the season!

Watford have a part to play yet, but what a game that could be!

And if Wednesday lose to Palace, expect them to be in administration by 5.30 that day!

Would that beat a points deduction carrying over? Or are they just that f**ked?

Unless Watford somehow manage to finish below Wednesday.

Well if you give us a good battering maybe we'll lose the GD advantage.

Reckon we'll seek enough points though..a win at Coventry and maybe a point against QPR or you guys if your off form.

Well we've a fair say in the battle. We've got Scunny on Tuesday who aren't out of the woods yet on 50 points, and of course Watford on Saturday who are seriously in trouble of going down. Two wins for us and both will be anxiously looking over their shoulders.

Can't see Scunny being dragged into it myself - mainly because Sheff Weds are away at Cardiff next Saturday and Palace at home to WBA next Monday. Both will need to win with Scunny losing to us and Donny on Saturday to drag the Iron into a final day battle for survival.

Cheerio Plymouth. Crystal Palace still have to play Sheffield Wednesday so one of them will pick up something

Hopefully Exeter stay up to ensure a proper Devon derby for the first time in yonks

Could all be wrapped up this weekend, with Plymouth losing (so far) a Wednesday win will guarantee relegation for Plymouth, a loss for both Wednesday and Plymouth and a win for Palarse will relegate both of them.

Plymouth have gone tonight - as twyi pointed out they can't now get above both Palace and Wendy.

Well they can, but have to make up a -18 goal difference on Palace and hope Wednesday & Palace lose both

21 Crystal Palace 44 8 4 10 23 26 6 11 5 24 24 -3 47

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

22 Sheff Wed 44 8 5 9 28 29 3 8 11 17 35 -19 46
23 Plymouth 44 5 6 11 19 28 6 2 14 23 35 -21 41

So 5 behind Wed and 6 points behinds Palace with 6 left to play for.

To catch them both Plymouth would need both of them to lose their remain games, or palace to lose them both and wednesay to draw one and lose one

As they have to play each other that means either one of them will win a game or palace will get the point they need.

Therefore, points wise, Plymouth cannot catch them both.
