Beveree tomorrow for a spot of grass roots football, Lewes at home, not going to be a classic, but a chance to get another Alan Devonshire panini sticker signed and a pint in the sunshiiiiiiiiiine.

My take on this is that it was decided by the Southern League to help out VT FC and their horrific fixture congestion. They have had to play something like 15 games in 30 days or something qually horrible. IIRC when the announcement was made, W&E cupporters were extremely critical of the situation as therecould have been accusations of collusion.

The final game of the season is Monday evening between W&E and VT. It could have transpired that W&E needed 1 point for the title and VT 1 point for the final play off place. Thankfully, this scenario will not happen as W&E must win their last 2games to win the title. Saturday has them at Bracknell who have conceded about 7 million goals. VT meanwhile have already cemented a play off berth.

But yes, 100 points and not going up would be unheard of.

Surely it would have been fairer to move Tottens last game to the Monday as well?

Looks like its worked out very well for W&E with VT likely to be resting up for the play offs.

Might just pay a visit on Monday even if just to see if Skittles still cant stand up.

As for Skittles being able to stand up? Well, standing up is not a problem. Moving, however, is another matter :lol:

... here's tomorrows 'local' NL games - rushed it a bit hope I haven't missed anyone :?

CONFS
Dorchester Town v Maidenhead United
Dover Athletic v Staines Town
Hampton and Richmond Borough v Lewes
Welling United v Basingstoke Town
Woking v Weymouth

SOUTHP
Chippenham Town v Farnborough
Halesowen Town v Didcot Town
SOUTH1M
Beaconsfield SYCOB v Sutton Coldfield Town
Burnham v Hitchin Town
Bury Town v Marlow
Romulus v Slough Town
SOUTH1SW
Abingdon United v Yate Town
AFC Totton v Taunton Town
Bedfont Green v Andover
Bishops Cleeve v Hungerford Town
Bracknell Town v Windsor & Eton
Thatcham Town v Cirencester Town

COCOP
Badshot Lea v Chessington & Hook United
Camberley Town v Croydon
North Greenford United v Sandhurst Town
COCO1
Croydon Municipal v Farnham Town
Eversley v CB Hounslow United
Mole Valley SCR v Hartley Wintney
Warlingham v Frimley Green

HELLP
Almondsbury Town v Ascot United
Flackwell Heath v Bicester Town
Shortwood United v Binfield - 'Wood' will go above RTFC, unless The Moles win this.
Wantage Town v Highworth Town
- RTFC without a game play @ Witney Utd next Thursday eve.
HELL1E
Finchampstead v Holyport
Henley Town v Rayners Lane
Thame United v Eton Wick
Wokingham & Emmbrook v Farnborough Reserves
Woodley Town v Newbury

Reading Senior Cup S-F at Highmoor/Ibis KO 14:00
Marlow United v Westwood United

WESS1
AFC Aldermaston v Whitchurch United
Amesbury Town v Farnborough North End
Ringwood Town v Fleet Spurs
- all WESSEX games tomorrow will be observing a minutes silence for the untimely passing of the Amesbury Town Secretary and all round nice fellah Tony Hinchcliffe.
I had the pleasure of meeting him early this season and he was typical of individuals, who give all their time and effort to help out their local club and can never do enough for any visitors/hoppers. Very sad news indeed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- severe funding shortage, means I'll have to aim pretty low tomorrow if I want to get to a game - likely candidates are all in the Hellenic Div One either:
Chalfont Wasps v Chinnor
Easington Sports (nr Banbury) v Cirencester Utd
Purton v Lydney
Bracknell 1 W&E 5 att 188
Stroll in the park on a dry bumpy pitch. Michael Chennells carried off on a stretcher with an ankle injury after 10 minutes. Cup Final Monday where if W&E win, they go up. Any other result and AFC Totton go up instead.
I will leave the rest to 4ofC
.... here's today's NL scores
CONFS
Dorchester Town 4-2 Maidenhead United
Dover Athletic 0-0 Staines Town
Hampton and Richmond Borough 1-2 Lewes
Welling United 0-1 Basingstoke Town
Woking 4-0 Weymouth
- Woking make last PO slot, will play Dover - other PO will be Chelmsford v Bath City
SOUTHP
Chippenham Town 2-0 Farnborough
Halesowen Town 3-1 Didcot Town
- drama in this division at the bottom where Adi Williams' new charges Bedford bt Tiverton 2-0 to drop them into the relegation slots instead. There may be a reprieve however cos I think Merthyr are being demoted - I've read it might even possibly be to the Hellenic - a 'nice' big crowd at Scours next season then? :shock:
SOUTH1M
Beaconsfield SYCOB 0-2 Sutton Coldfield Town
Burnham 0-0 Hitchin Town
Bury Town 3-0 Marlow
Romulus 1-4 Slough Town
- inspite of Sutton Coldfield's win at Beaconsfield - Slough's bigger win @ Romulus puts them into the last Play Off slot by +1 better GD. Bury Town win the league; Hitchin finish 2nd with 100 pts - and meet Sluff in this weeks Play Offs. The other PO game is Chesham v Burnham - assuming everyone's ground grading is acceptable.
SOUTH1SW
Abingdon United 1-2 Yate Town
AFC Totton 8-1 Taunton Town
Bedfont Green 3-3 Andover
Bishops Cleeve 4-1 Hungerford Town
Bracknell Town 1-5 Windsor & Eton
Thatcham Town 1-1 Cirencester Town
- as T'B'dom states above; W&E need to win for the top spot on Monday eve v VT FC- a draw or loss leaves them in 2nd and a PO vs Cirencester Town - Bridgwater and VT FC meet in the other PO.
ISTH One North
Worthing 1-0 Fleet Town
- Fleet miss out on the POs by two points
COCOP
Badshot Lea 3-1 Chessington & Hook United
Camberley Town 2-1 Croydon
North Greenford United 3-1 Sandhurst Town
COCO1
Croydon Municipal 3-1 Farnham Town
Eversley 1-2 CB Hounslow United
Mole Valley SCR 2-5 Hartley Wintney - big win at promotion contenders - bit late for HW though.
Warlingham 2-2 Frimley Green
HELLP
Almondsbury Town 6-1 Ascot United - clinch the title in some style
Flackwell Heath 4-1 Bicester Town
Shortwood United 3-0 Binfield - 'Wood' duly go above RTFC have a three point lead, both sides have two games left.
Wantage Town 4-2 Highworth Town
- not too sure if 4 teams will be relegated - though looks likely with the top sides in Div One East and West all eligible for the Premier. So Hook Norton and Bicester down - most likely joined by Fairford - who are very unlikely to get enough points for survival from trips to Ascot (actually Stag Meadow) then Shortwood - AND Malmesbury - though Carterton and Marlow Utd are just in range.
HELL1E
Finchampstead 1-0 Holyport
Henley Town 2-0 Rayners Lane
Thame United 3-0 Eton Wick - win the title
Wokingham & Emmbrook Postponed Farnborough Reserves - not sure why? Need to check Wokkers website
Woodley Town 7-0 Newbury
Reading Senior Cup S-F at Highmoor/Ibis KO 14:00
Marlow United 1-2 Westwood United
- the Reading Senior League side will play Wokingham & Emmbrook or Flackwell Heath in the final - maybe at the MadStad in May - not sure without delving 8)
WESS1
AFC Aldermaston 1-2 Whitchurch United
Amesbury Town 3-2 Farnborough North End
Ringwood Town 2-1 Fleet Spurs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I got over to Chalfont St Giles - famous for what it rhymes with :D to see:
Chalfont Wasps 0-3 Chinnor
... fairly mundane end of season game, not much riding on it - simple pitch on a Village Rec - but had a decent little clubhouse with a good supply of Programmes and a big Jar of Badges behind the bar- so my Lad was pleased. 8)

Annoying Welsh tw@nk voice :twisted: MODE=ON

"I know - cos I was there!"

MODE=OFF :roll:

A.M Copy & Print Hellenic Floodlit Cup FINAL 1st Leg
RTFC 3-0 Shortwood - attendance 77

2nd Leg scheduled for Tuesday May 4th.

Comfortable win - all three goals came from dead-ball situations - each time the Away defence fell asleep and let a free shot on goal.
...game wasn't entirely all one way, 'Wood' had plenty of possession particularly 2nd half but didn't test Chris Grace often enough - shooting wide from a couple of promising postions.
Red Card for a Shortwood defender very late on - Ref conjured up 8 mins of injury time from somewhere.

Barmy Army (att:5) were pretty quiet by their normal standards - wasn't that much to shout about.

... they are still in with a chance of another Cup win - the much maligned and sadly neglected Southern Combination Challenge Cup - entry for which is made up of a hotchpotch of clubs in and around the CCL region and a few other Surrey League and Isthmian Clubs thrown in too. Presumably RTFC still take part cos they traditionally entered when they were in the CCL 'family'.
With the weather the way it has been - this season's competition has been riddled with withdrawals.
Thus I think RTFC have made it as far as the Semi-Finals and only had to play once - they are due to face Molesey @ Scours date tba
The other semi should be between Hanworth Villa/Chertsey v Old Hamptonians.

No idea when or where the final will be played - been held @ clubs like Chipstead or Merstham in the past. I strongly suspect, assuming there are no more 'pull-outs', the Final might get held over to the start of next season.

My son's team have their last League game of the season on Monday as well, KO is 6.30 so I'm going to miss the 1st 15 mins or so at Stag Meadow. :evil:

Still, at least New Windsor Ospreys made sure of their League trophy a day early by beating Taplow Boys 4-2, (unless we lose tomorrow and Taplow Boys win their last game by about 90 clear goals that is).

18 games - 162 goals for, 5 against.

Shamless glory hunting trip to Windsor tonight.

a won 1 0 win sees them claim the title, with a floodlight failure thrown in to add to the drama!

Well done W&E!

A great night, if a somewhat inelegant win against VTFC's 2nd string.

Phew!

I thouht VTFC did everything they could to make life as difficult as possible for W&E. Thoroughly enjoyable evening spent with a bumper crowd of 405 in attendance. And pleasantly ironic that the winner should be scored by Nathan Jack who joined the Royalists mid season from arch rivals AFC Totton. Bet they are gutted but not more so than the 30 or so Totton supporters who made up the crowd.

.. should be back in a shiny new ground on the outskirts of Thame next season too. :)

... I dashed up to Mill Lane (Henley Town) last night (Mon) and watched a quite entertaining match vs Milton Utd.

There was not much at stake [6th v 7th] - though there may have been some ill-feeling simmering from the game played back in Nov @ Milton, which was abandoned at half time due to a serious 'off-the-field' incident - I think there were legal proceedings - so nuff said :? ?

Game was hard but relatively well mannered; Henley's Big No 9 was lucky to stay on the field for some brutal 'afters' on a couple of occasions in the 1st Half. Ref gave him a serious talking to.
Home side won 3-1 - though were under severe pressure late on 2nd half, following Milton's first to make it 2-1. Milton were a bit aggrieved following Henley's 2nd which had shades of 'The Hand of God' goal :shock: - Henley scored a breakaway third in the last minute, immediately after Milton had rattled the bar.
- Home side have one game left under Roddy Slater's tenure; H v Kintbury Rangers on Wed eve [19:45] - entry £4 nice glossy programme £2 - big comfy bar. :wink:

Saturday May 8th

... and the other match in the competition due to be played later this week:

Thursday, 29 April 2010
Southern Combination Challenge Cup Quarter Final
Hanworth Villa v Chertsey Town

... winners play Old Hamptonians - who are part of the AFA - Amateur Football Association - so aren't even part of the Pyramid. :?
