Well Done Eddie Howe & B'mouth

by Skyline » 26 Apr 2010 09:43

I know there's a few who look down on Bournemouth on this portal, but I'm still surprised no-one else has started a thread congratulating them on getting promotion from the fourth tier.

Eddie Howe has done an amazing job with them - especially given he's had to work most of the season under a transfer embargo, and hasn't been able to even field a full subs bench for a lot of it.

32 as well. Is he the youngest managert to win a promotion?

Really pleased for them. Administration and transfer embargo's and they still went up. Can't say they don't deserve it, and by all accounts the new owners have put the books right and the club looks to have a more stable future.

Nope, Graham Taylor was 31 when he won the 4th Division title with Lincoln - there may even be someone younger than that.

Not quite right-the money situation is still dire and some of the Nothern clubs thought that they have still paid players more than they should.
There is no real money at board level and the massive land space in and around the ground is the only bait for any investor and surprise, surprise the latest in a long line of owners is......a property developer.
They (like a number of clubs in Div 2) have not been able to buy anybody but they still had players on "emergency" loans.

On the pitch they have done really well and it is a good example of a tightly-knit squad performing for each other and the manager having to get the best out of limited numbers-a lesson perhaps for clubs that have massive underused squads particularly in the Premiership.
Eddie Howe is a really likeable fella and studious about the game-whether he could step up time will tell because in the Bournemouth job he has been surrounded by his mates and nobody knows whether it was more about Fletcher and Tindall and their input on and off the pitch that made the difference or Eddie's management skills.

IMHO it has been a bit over the top down here for finishing 3rd (24 page local paper pull-out)for a team that got promoted from the same level not very long ago and (as with Pompey)local business are still owed money.
