Ajax - last worthy winners of the Champs league?

by FiNeRaIn » 10 May 2010 10:11

Having a look at their team that won it in 1995. IMO that is an outrageous team, most of that came through their youth ranks and went on to have top european careers at great clubs. Has there ever been a better home grown team to win the champs league? Barca last year were pretty solid but this year Inter and Bayern have a very smaller number of home grown players. Really can't believe how impressive that team was.

AJAX:

GK 1 Edwin van der Sar
RB 2 Michael Reiziger
CB 3 Danny Blind (c) Booked
LB 5 Frank de Boer
DM 4 Frank Rijkaard
CM 6 Clarence Seedorf Substituted off in the 54th minute 54'
CM 8 Edgar Davids
AM 10 Jari Litmanen Substituted off in the 69th minute 69'
RW 7 Finidi George
CF 9 Ronald de Boer
LW 11 Marc Overmars Booked

Substitutions:
GK 12 Fred Grim
DF 13 Winston Bogarde
FW 14 Nwankwo Kanu Substituted on in the 54th minute 54'
FW 15 Patrick Kluivert Substituted on in the 69th minute 69'
FW 16 NPeter van Vossen
