Well done, it wasn't even built in my days of getting to youth cup finals so I'm pleased for you.

I have turned down the chance to play there though. Maybe one day....

Managed to get myself along to the Reading Challenge Senior Cup Final this evening. Westwood United took on Flackwell Heath and despite there being two leagues between them, one would have been hard pressed to spot the Hellenic Premier League side. The first half saw Flackwell have the majority of possession but were unable to find the break through and with Westwood looking determined, well organised and dangerous on the break it made for an interesting spectacle. The only goal of the game came on 36 mins when directly from a set piece out wide, a smart interchange saw the two Westwood wide men overload the Flackwell rightback. Westwood's right winger then found himself bareing down on goal with two men to beat. Amazingly he skinned both of the them with fantastic footwork and thundered the ball into the net. A fantastic goal that would have graced any cup final.

Overall Westwood were good value for their victory as their Hellenic opponents rarely threatened in the second half and when they did manage a break through they found the Westwood keeper in fine form. Stand out players for Westwood were the goalkeeper, the imperious and balding centreback (no. 4) and the ever hard working lone striker (no. 9). All this infront of a healthy crowd of 400-500.

So its a big welldone to Westwood with a fantastic win against higher standing opposition. And its nice to see a "Reading" side claim victory.

... agree with all the above - I was there too - thought Westwood were good value but were fortunate to encounter such lacklustre opponents.
Was difficult to comprehend this side (supposedly) came into the game with 14 wins from their last 15 games?
Didn't look as if the 'Heathens' had any kind of plan to change anything once they fell behind to the well-worked goal.
Everything seemed to go through Cannon (?) up front and he either got knocked off the ball - passed to no-one - kicked it out - ran into another forward or fell-over deciding which of these were best.
I thought the Flackwell No 2 looked quite good going forward but even his runs had an air of desperation about them - they rarely mustered a decent shot or cross and usually were safely marshalled away from goal by a very competent back line.

Hope Friday's game has a bit more of an 'oomph' factor.

Yes, apparently Barnsey did play in goal, and like you say TBM he's a very good keeper...best in Reading for my money.

The bald centre back would've Dave Green, who again is one of the better park players and won the FA Vase at Didcot a few years back.
