SHunt looking to do runner - Mark II

Hull winger Stephen Hunt expects to leave the KC Stadium in the summer.

The Tigers, who have debts of £35m and face tough financial restructuring, are preparing for life in the Championship.

Hunt, one of the club's top earners, struck an agreement with chairman Adam Pearson that he could leave if Hull failed to stay in the Premier League.

"If we'd stayed up I'd have been happy to stay but we're not in the Premier League now and they may need to sell me", he told the Herald's website.

During the January transfer window the Tigers rejected a £5m bid from Wolves for the 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international, whose contract runs until 2013.

"If I do move on, it will be with a clear conscience. In January we had an agreement that they would sell me due to the financial situation that would arise from relegation," he added.

"The chairman [Adam Pearson] has been very good to me. He said once I gave my all for Hull he'd have no problem in honouring that agreement for me to go. I have done that, I have done well for Hull.

"Unfortunately,I haven't delivered as much as I'd like because we've been relegated."

Hunt, who is currently recovering from a foot injury that is likely to rule him out for the whole of the summer, believes Hull would be prepared to accept an offer of less than £5m this time around.

"The club say they will be willing to sell me at a reduction of the price they'd have got for me in January," he stated.

"I have no idea what that reduction will be and if a club will come up with the money. All I can do is concentrate on getting fit and see what happens."

Wolves are once again said to be interested in securing Hunt's services, along with Newcastle and West Brom, who will both be returning to the top flight next season.

Hull's precarious financial position means that they will almost certainly have to offload their top earners with the likes of Hunt, Jimmy Bullard, captain George Boateng, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Giovanni among those most likely to leave.

The club had to issue a statement at the end of April saying there were "no plans... to enter into any form of insolvency process", after rumours it could be forced into administration.

One of the highest earners, if fit one of their best players, one of the few saleable assets, i really don't think Hunty's opinion comes into it

Although that won't matter here, just like wherever Rogers gets his next job

A lot of my Hull supporting mates at uni have been really impressed with Hunt, he's put in some much better performances than some of the other members of the squad.

How anyone can still hold a grudge is beyond me, he like many others made this club a heafty profit and he was ill-advised by his agent at times at the club,

Besides, a sale might be in our best interests with any potential sell on clauses etc

Pretty sure we took cash up front rather than clauses with our deals in the summer.

Be very surprised not tower him go Wolves. So all the mongs will be able to shake their fists and stamp their feet. Hunt won't know what to do...

I'm looking forward to applauding him shanking cross after cross into the stand

but really I don't think you could fault the guy's character, effort or dedication. just his crossing.

It's the way he keeps trying to talk about moving elsewhere if things don't look good for the team he's playing for.

Hunty is a trier, but if the going gets tough his performances go down hill. Considering he was a free and we got £3.5m for him it is good business. Not sure there is a sell on in Hunt's or Doyle's contract as we got cash up front

Same in the Sun today, followed by how he already agreed a £4m deal with Wolves.

I read today that Kitson might be off to Wolves as well. Will be weird if this happens watching Doyle, Hahneman, Hunt and Kitson all playing together for another team.

According to Hull fans Hunt was one of the few players who did put the effort in, so hardly see what is wrong with him having a go at those who didn't.

Villa need to cut-back... say two squad players: Shorey and Sidwell into the Gold and Black.

What people think happened is very far from the truth.

I don't think Hunt covered himself in glory, but he was not alone and the situation was frankly farcical.

Not trying to defend his performances, but saying it was due to a lack of effort is someway off the mark.
