Sitting deeper in a 'quarter back role' playing balls from that role.

Could be looking at options for if Barry doesn't make it.

He should honestly be starting, he delivers the best cross in the squad.

No as in behind Rooney so more of an attacking free role.

Not from what i've read today on Twitter.

OliverKayTimes Watching England training in Irdning. Gerrard pinging passes around from deeper midfield role. Interesting. #WC2010

HenryWinter #Gerrard in back-to-back sessions, instead of gym. Outstanding in deep mid, spraying passes l & r. Lamps-Gerrard if Barry out & Milner left?

Gerrard gets pretty cross if you don't play Phil Collins

:| Yes. Thanks for that.

However, hearing first hand from someone who was there is just slightly superior to sitting in your pants with your laptop, reading one line posts by some journo on their blackberry.

For what it's worth, the floating role Gerrard has was in a 5 v 5s game, Gerrard was the extra man in a different coloured bib, playing as the extra man for the team in possession. They then switched to larger sized games, and Gerrard played both in the 'quarterback' position, and behind the front man.

Johnson was apparently absolutely skinning Carragher (who looked very poor, as did Walcott and SWP).

nope it's not superior at all, it's exactly the same to a hobnobber. in fact the journos are probably a bit better.

I heard the other day that Barry has very little chance of being fit.

That also goes with the stories all over the press that Hargreaves was going to be called up instead but when Cappello spoke with Sir Alex he was told Hargreaves had even less of a chance.

Gerrard deep with Milner on the left is interesting.

There seems to be a lot of talking about moving away from the system we used in the qualifying. I'd stick with it myself, worked well, Heskey up front. Lennon to start on the right with Johnson as super sub....

Does Gerrard really deserve his place in the starting line up?

Why would someone make up sh1t like that. Seriously I don't know what you chaps do with your time but I have far better things to do than make up random pieces of information.

There is this weird phenomenon on here that people seem to resent that fact that someone else may have something genuine to share, which may or may not be of interest (you don't have to read it if not). There's always this desire to discredit or belittle, and it's pretty boring.

I dunno Cappello will have to bollox to tell Stevie to play the holding role, rather than all the 'release the G force' crap we had under Sven.

With no Barry/Hargreaves, Gerrard is the best option.
