I heard about this testimonial on Radio 5 Live last night. Atletic Bilbao still only recruit players from within the Basque region. What a great gesture from player and club. Some so-called bigger clubs could learn from this.
All the kids were aged between 11 and 15. They had 3 goalkeepers and over 20,000 turned up to watch the game. Top class!

Quality. Should of done that for the Murty testimonial. Still could do it for the Ivar testimonial.

There were more people on the pitch for Etxeberria than in the stands for Murty.

Bit of a moot point for every other club in the Basque Region who are sick to death of Athletic poaching any half decent youngsters from their youth set ups.
Still a wonderful gesture from a genuine Basque icon.
