Uke Er, a coach should be able to make a team perform

So as our players were unfit, had a losing mentality and were confused as to their roles, just whre does this "good coach" BS come from?

There is obviously something different about simply being a coach than being the Manager/Head Coach. Otherwise we wouldn't have so many examples of Coaches and Assistant Managers attempting to make the step-up and failing.

Can I refer you to:

Silver Fox Nice one Brendan

Can I echo BReal's comments and send a pre-emptive fvck off to all the tedious pcunts who'll no doubt pop up on this thread withe the same unfunny shit they come up with on every other thread about our former manager

You can refer me to anything you like but while this is a democracy and free speech still possible, I suggest you go boil your head.

Why don't you ask the hard to impress Jose Mourinho? He holds Brendan Rodgers in the highest regard, and his opinion would somewhat trump ours.

Stating the obvious but...

Perhaps his strength is in a position where results are secondary to developing players/keeping players sweet in line with Club policy, and taking his orders from a chief coach/ Manager.

I would have thought that he would be ideal choice for the kind of role he held at Chelsea (Plus City would be a suitably large project to feed his ego - or are we not allowed to mention any apparent character traits).

That makes sense!

But when he came to keeping people like Mills and others sweet he couldn't cut it as a manager when he had to make actual decisions...

I thought he was off to manage Portsmouth :?

RODGERS IN FRAME FOR POMPEY JOB

Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou has revealed that Brendan Rodgers is a candidate for the vacant managerial post.

Avram Grant left Fratton Park last week after a turbulent off-field spell at the club, which has seen Portsmouth drop into the Championship after a nine-point penalty for entering administration.

Former Reading and Watford boss Rodgers has been spotted at the club in recent weeks and is a name in the frame for the job.

Andronikou says there has been a lot of interest in the job, despite the unsecure position of Pompey.

"We've had half a dozen come forward so far," he told the Portsmouth News.

"Brendan Rodgers is a name that has been recommended to us by a third party. He is definitely in and around our thoughts.

"Steve Cotterill is another one of the names that seems to have interest in Portsmouth, we've also been told about him.

"But I can say (first-team coach) Paul Groves has not thrown his hat into the ring - and nor do I expect him to.

"Discussions have been had between Paul and a senior member of my team and he wants to stay on as a coach.

"Along with all our backroom staff such as Ian Woan, Dave Coles, Guy Whittingham, right the way to the kitman, he has been tremendous.

"But he wants to distance himself from the job, he does not want to be manager."

I thought Dillon was: -

http://www.aldershottown-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/shots_boss_linked_with_pompey_job_528251/index.shtml

Aldershot Town boss Kevin Dillon is being linked with the vacant manager position at struggling Portsmouth.

Shots manager Kevin Dillon has been linked to the available managers job at Portsmouth by The Times.

In the papers article, it says: "Andrew Andronikou, the administrator, is preparing a shortlist of possible successors to Grant for the consideration of David Lampitt, who will become Portsmouth’s chief executive on June 1. Yesterday Andronikou told The Times that the club could not wait until a new owner is found.

“This is an important time of the year and you have to lay the foundations now,” he said. “I’ve got to start the ball rolling, although it will ultimately be the chief executive’s decision.

“We are looking at candidates who fit the requirements of Portsmouth FC. Above all we have [financial] constraints. We can’t forget how we got here and start playing some wonderful game of Football Manager.”

In other words, the new manager will have to work within a tight budget, which is likely to put off some of the bigger names, such as Glenn Hoddle and Alan Curbishley, who have been fancifully linked with the job. Eighteen players remain under contract, but bids will be considered for most of them and even though David James and Hermann Hreidarsson have been offered new deals, all salaries are expected to be capped at £10,000 a week.

The potential for wheeling and dealing will be severely limited with the transfer embargo remaining in force until Portsmouth officially leave the Premier League at its annual general meeting next month. It is expected to continue when the club become a member of the Football League and until they emerge from administration.

Managers used to dealing with lower budgets are likely to top the shortlist. Kevin Dillon, the former Portsmouth midfield player, who took Aldershot Town to the Coca-Cola League Two play-offs after working under Steve Coppell at Reading, has the right blend of ambition and experience."

And Jose has told you this himself?

I wonder why are all these english clubs wasting their time approaching Brendan then?

With Jose thinking so highly of him, he will be lined up for a move to Real Madrid, or Jose may even be recommending that Brendan succeeds him at Inter?

Or perhaps Brendan just led people to believe this is what Jose thought of him?
