PlasticRoyale The 1990 squad who would you like to see in the current squad - Shilton would be a defo, best English keeper ever, Des Walker, Robson, Barnes, Lineker, Gazza, Waddle
When you see it written down it doesn't look that good

Seal It's hard to compare teams due to diff formations, but if we assumed a good old fashioned 4-4-2.
Shilton
A. Cole
Walker
Terry
Parker
Waddle
Lampard
Gascoigne
Gerrard
Rooney
Lineker
You can probably debate that a bit, but in essence it's going to be a relatively even 50:50 split.
Also bear in mind a lot of those players came of age at that World Cup, so probably unfair to make the comparison until this one is over.

Knocked Argentina out, we started well and demolished Denmark, only to go out with a whimper.
Lucio stumble, Owen tucks it in, here we go...then nothing
We were watching it at 7am, it was as if they had their bare feet rapped with hoses and demanded to play at 7am.

I think that for a lot of people, Italia 90 was their first proper WC where they were able to go down the pub and watch the games etc so will always hold a nostalgic place for peopleSeal Not sure about this Baines led nostalgia over the 1990 team. Are people forgetting we were essentially pretty rubbish and incredibly lucky to reach the semis?
We scraped through our group with 1 win courtesy of a 1-0 set piece victory over EGYPT.
We then fluked past Belgium with a last min winner after they dominated. BELGUIM.
This was followed by diving our way past Cameroon.
Finishing off with our ONE good performance. When we still went out to Germany.
Don't get me wrong it was an epic semi final, and I loved Gascoigne, Waddle, Lineker, Beardo & Platt. But we played 5 at the back and really weren't that good.
