Where do you watch the World Cup?

by BR2 » 14 Jun 2010 13:16

Having only watched World and European Cup games on big screens or in bars when on holiday I was wondering how many people prefer to watch games in their own homes?
As a Reading fan living away from the town football has nearly always been a non-drinking occasion so I don't get the whole down the boozer bit for England games.
On the very rare occasions that I have done that I find that most of the people don't want to watch the game or listen to the commentary,it's the next drink that is most important and football is just a "by the way".

The season before last I was in Edinburgh on a stag weekend and in a Hearts fans pub tried to watch our game away at Arsenal-I had no feeling of involvement in the game.
Does anyone else feel the same?
I would much sooner watch a game at home with or without other people around 'cos I want to take it all in and listen to all the rubbish spouted by the commentators and pundits.
I read on here from time to time that posters can't remember much about a game but the craic has been great so presumably they get more out of being with their mates regardless of where they are?.

By nature I don't think of myself as being too anti-social or too serious but for me a football match is something to be kinda studied rather than be something in the background.
It's different at an actual game because you can shut out the piss-head nearby or the moron that never watches the game but moans at everybody for not singing but for a televised match it's at home on the settee every time for me with or without a beer.
Is it just me or does anybody else feel the same?

Horses for courses. If I really care about a match (which is pretty rare these days, beit club or country) then I'd probably prefer to watch at home.

But otherwise, it's just an excuse to be in the pub. Although I'd probably rather be in a pub that didn't show the football frankly.

Prefer to watch it at home with m8s, or at a m8s house, that way I'm still surrounded by a bunch of pcunts but at least I don't have to queue to get a beer.
