England to win 3-1 in normal time. The German defence is not the most solid at the tournament and I can see them conceding early and being hit on the break again and again.

If both sides play to their potential then we should win.

Plus, the law of averages suggests we can't just continue losing every big game at major tourneys.

papereyes
Neither team especially convincing in front of goal

Goals scored when Klose on pitch >>>> Goals scored when Klose not on pitch.

:|

Only just - 3 vs 2.

And most of Germany's goals coming against a poor Australian side that went down to 10 men. I'm not convinced it wasn't a one off. Especially considering Klose & Podolski's domestic form.

I did also allude to Klose coming back in possibly making the difference.

Mags, the law of averages has nothing to do with. It's about quality and mental strength. We don't have enough of either, particularly the mental side.

Capello needs to find a way of getting Gerrard to stay on the left hand side and stop Lahm committing defenders....which in turn creates space for Ozil and Poldi. Stop Lahm stop Germany.

I have an odd feeling that England might win this one, think that the WC is in the bag and then capitulate in the QFs

Ian Royal I'm not convinced it wasn't a one off.

So you're convinced it was a one off then...

Penalties, and England will be on the wrong end again when Lampard blasts over.

German win all day long. England blew their world cup on Wednesday with that pathetic result against Slovenia.

Over 70 years since Germany have failed to make the quarter finals.

Sarah Star England to win on penalties simply because they've never done it before and there has to be a first time... obviously once the game has started I'll expect Germany to win but for now optimism reigns

Equally I am not convinced it was a one off.

Not being convinced by something =/= being convinced by the opposite. That sentence makes perfect sense and is not an example of poor use of a double negative.

You are getting confused with the likes of "I didn't do nothing" when meaning "I didn't do anything", or "I did nothing".

Poor effort.

Standing up for the German National anthem.

Drinking during ours.

Germany 2 - the rest 1.

England to win. Germans are running their mouths off too much Beckenbauer media etc and are trying to convince themselves that they are going to win. They are more worried about England than England are of them.

Plus, history suggests that England have at least one good game at every World Cup.

Perhaps we've already set out low standards.

Not always, Argentina in 2002 springs to mind. I just feel that the German media are creating the sort of pressure on their team that the English media usually do to theirs.

Woken up feeling negative about this one, plus it sounds like Schweinsteiger is playing which is a massive boost to them.

England 1-2 Germany, in normal time too I reckon.
