I'm just amazed a thread with this title has made it to two pages.

world cup 2014 will see an unrecognisable england team to the over rated and quite frankly embarrassing england team we have today.

there will likely be no: james, a.cole, terry, ferdinand, l.king, beckham, lampard, gerrard, heskey. (anyone else?)

so, do we plan for the future and look to a new younger team (as the german's did) and use euro 2012 as their first test, and to gain experience they need from it? and if so, who are the stars of tomorrow?

or would you stick with an aging unsuccessful team that always flatter to deceive? if so, why?

current obvious youngsters likely for 2014:

rb: johnson
lb: warnock
cb: ?
cb: ?
rw: lennon
lw: milner
cm: ?

These players shouldn't get near the squad again:

Lampard - He doesn't have quick enough feet. He isn't quick enough when running. Has never performed for his country.
G.Johnson - probably one of the worst right backs to represent the country. He's a defender who cannot defend. Disgusting.
G.Barry - Can't run. His feet are okay, but you're not going to survive without pace, as he showed today.
James - his age.
SWP - atrocious. The guy used to be okay, but he now looks like Omar Daley.
Heskey - he's an actual embarassment to the country. The guy can't score, he can't really run, and he isn't particularly strong for a big guy.
Aaron Lennon - unless this midget learns to cross, then he can also fook off.



And...if Gerrard is continually played on the left, then he can also go elsewhere.

England's Under-17 side became European champions for the first time after defeating Spain in the final in Liechtenstein.


Spain took the lead after 22 minutes when Gerard's shot took a deflection off Liverpool's Andre Wisdom.


John Peacock's side were behind just eight minutes though, Wisdom getting the crucial touch at the right end to head Josh McEachran's corner past Adrian Ortola.


Highly-rated Ipswich forward Connor Wickham then gave England the lead after 42 minutes, beating three defenders as he cut into the box before giving Ortola no chance with a cool finish.


Wickham could have put his side even further ahead in the second half but there were no further goals as England held on for a first age-group title since 1993's Under-18 triumph.

I've posted more on this on the main whinging thread, but anyone who thinks scrapping the nucleus of the current side would do anything but ensure we didn't qualify for Euro 2012 is living on cloud cuckoo land.

I absolutely admit that the likes of Gerrard, Lampard and Terry have under-performed, but scrapping them from the international setup at 29/30 years old for some wild idea that we can blood a team of world-beaters is fanciful and idiotic.

I'm a bit lost with this whole Germany thing - can someone actually tell me which players they dumped from the team to make way for their current 'stars'?

Anyone who has seen my posts on the Team Board, particularly during the early Coppell era, will know of my support for blooding youngsters, but if people seriously want the likes of Gibbs, Richards and Warnock in the side now, then be prepared to lose to mediocre sides, never mind Germany, on a regular basis.

Very much agreed.

Changes for sure, but here's hoping most can't / wont play that poorly again.

Oh, and for those that i've heard on the radio suggesting that it will take 10 years to sort this shit out (ala Germany's debacle in 2000) there record post debacle is final, semi, and 2 QF. I'm backing the english manager brigade.

I don't think Capello should necessarily go, though it's a given this world cup has been an absolute shambles.

I also fall into the English manager. But that's on the basis that I think managers should have the same selection restrictions as players when it comes to national sides.

Hodgson is a pretty good shout as a decent and experienced English manager. Next generation needs to be brought in, but it needs to be carefully done. You can't just sack off everyone and start again.
