Cole by the same distance there was between Terry and Upson for most of Sunday.

It would have been Cashley by default or Carrick because he didn't play but I thought Cole was really bad v Germany so the vote goes to Gerrard for at least trying in each of the games.

I don't think anyone involved with the England set-up comes out of the tournament with their reputation enhanced, so the best thing I can think to say of Ashley is that he was the least worst.

I don't believe there was one, but Gerrard had a superb first game getting forward, defending and scoring a goal, so he got my vote.

Cashley was 'ok' but didn't look anything like the Chelsea left back we know who gets forward and puts the crosses in. Very average in a very below average England team.

A Cole: In most games, due to the lack of an orthodox left winger, he was often doing the job of two men on the left hand side. He also had to cover up for the absence of any pace in our back line. Hence why he rarely sparkled when he went forward

My vote goes to Joe Hart. He did not make a single mistake in the whole tournament. More telling would be who was the worst England player. I really can not think of a single player who can come out of the tournament with any credit.
