floyd__streete City were impressive in sweeping aside the mediocrity put before them. I like watching Tevez play; I'd rather thave the industry, work-rate and no-little-skill of Tevez over the sulky Torres any day of the week. And Capello should have been sacked the moment he failed to pick Adam Johnson for the World Cup. And sacked twice over for selecting the hapless Green - with a history of mishaps against his name - ahead of the superb Joe Hart.

A post based entirely on hindsight, well done.

At the top of their game, Torres is an infinitely better player than Tevez, industry, work-rate and skill easily adjectives to describe him. But he is unfit and playing in a Liverpool side that has lacked any sort of dynamism since Xabi Alonso left the club. For sulking, see the definition of it in Mascherano, who put Hodgson in the position of having to pick Lucas because he just doesn't fancy playing any more for the club he signed a contract with.

I'm getting fed up with hearing how Joe Hart should have played at the World Cup. 21 years old or whatever, one cap to his name, and 10 clean sheets in a good Premier League season does not an international goalkeeper make. That said, he has been spectacular so far this season and if he is to now get his chance, he looks like taking it.

A post based entirely on what you read in the papers, well done.

Ok, I'll take you apart then, arm-chair expert.

Sorry you don't like hearing that Hart should have played in the World Cup, but he had an excellent season with Birmingham whilst Green continued to look shaky in goal for a West Ham side that had a good go at being relegated.

As for Tevez vs Torres, Tevez every time for me. He works his socks off, win, lose or draw and is revered by every set of supporters he has played for. Torres is an unbelievable finisher but I reckon Tevez has the better all round game, and on the evidence of what I saw tonight I won't be changing that opinion any time soon because Torres sulks and disappears when things don't go his way. Torres may have played in a World Cup winning team, but Tevez had a far better tournament on a personal level.

Add Torres' injury record and I think Tevez wins hands down.

You'll 'take me apart'? Ok....

Why not just have a different opinion?

But as we're taking a combative tone, my hairy arse-hole that you would have chosen Tevez over Torres at any time with the exception of the last few months since when Torres got injured. Absolute dog-shite. It's completely reactionary. Tevez wasn't even first-choice at United, and has had a good 12 months at City.

You started it with the, a post based entirely on hindsight remark. Never been a huge Torres fan, he goes to ground too easily for my liking. Never been a fan of Green either to be honest, with his slapstick approach to goalkeeping.

Final whistle - game over!

Fail for the both of you.

No bias in my post, Torres is one of the world's best, Tevez is getting there, but Tevez isn't suddenly a better player because Torres has been injured for the best part of 8 months. He didn't even start scoring properly until he joined Man City.

Liverpool were insipid tonight - worrying with the exception of Mascherano that that was about as good a team as they could have put out. Tragically 4th place would be a real achievement for them this season, but if we work for now on the basis that City are the 4th best team in the league, Liverpool are nowhere near that, and are in the second 'mini-league' with Spurs, Everton and Villa.

tbh i think Torres is carried by Gerrard alot of the time.....without Gerrard in the team Torres seems to struggle.

Van Persie is a better striker than Tevez and Torres IMHO

I disagree...

Have never really rated Van Persie myself. And get shown up time and time again mind you...
But won a bet with my friend, a mad Arse fan... He put money on VP for Golden boot in the WC. I told him he would not score a goal. I won.

Ah - that MUST be it then - Torres struggled 'cos Stevie G. wasn't in .... Oh hang on?
... listened to some of the Radio 5 commentary nr the end of tonights' game, in the car on the way home from another match, they stated that Stevie G. had been anonymous - but he must've done something to get a '7' on the SportsData rankings - musn't he?
Pepe got a '4' as did Carra & Skrtel....Gerrard was equal top ranked with N'Gog for the Reds. Carlos got a '9' for Citeh.
... and if Man C were that dismissive of Liverpool how come these same stats appear to show them having more shots on target (5 to 3) and in total 14 shots vs 8 over the home team?
Who adds these up - Sammy Lee/Phil Thompson?

I've lost count of the number of times Alan Green comes out with his: 'truly dreadful' phrase, when describing a Liverpool game that they aren't winning.
- I've not often heard him give much credit to their opposition - but then again I find him too annoying to listen to altogether a lot of the time - especially when it ISN'T one of the 'Big Three/Four' (?) they are losing to - he tends to merely emphasise how awful the Scousers are playing which, to him anyway, SEEMS to equate to the game being just as bad. :?

Didn't hear him at all tonight though, was he 'off-duty' - or had he b@ggered off early in disgust - P'raps he refuses to share a booth with Robbie Savage :D ?

Wish I'd heard more of the subsequent 'whinefest' of a phone-in too but my lad wanted some music on in the car instead. 8)

Great player on his day but would question his injury record

If I was picking a dream XI from the current Premiership, I'd have Drogba over Tevez, Torres, RVP or even Rooney

How Alan Greene is allowed to spout is ill informed vial at tax payers expense is one of the great mysteries to me.

With the kind way the fixtures have fallen for Chelsea they will certainly be on 15 points after 5 games but I wonder just how many goals they will have scored.

I really thought City were leaving a door wide open for Liverpool yesterday picking that side, especially with Lescott at left-back but my word they were good, bit worrying if they're only warming up. Playing like that they'll be Chelsea's biggest challengers this year.

They will be up there, no doubt. BUT Liverpool were poor. Torres looks disinterested and most of the team aren't up to scratch.

I bet Gerrard and Torres are regreting their decision to stay......there isn't much time left for them to bag a move to a big club.

'greed, missed the boat with City. I reckon they'll have to sign for someone like Chelsea.
