Will Cappello have the guts to drop Lampard now?

Gerrad was running things in the central midfield role without Lampard clogging things up, and Adam Johnson has to start on Tuesday night.

BUT is Glen Johnson REALLY the only English right back playing football at the moment?? He was shocking.

Rather liked the blue England have used for their new shorts (and training gear).

You can just feel the frustration of the radio and print media. The coverage Cappello has had this week has been an utter disgrace. Good to see Fabio sticking two fingers at them.

I bet they all had the sack Fab, bring in good ol 'arry articles ready to go to print.

I remember when McClaren got the boot I said to my lovely Mrs that Fabio Capello would be the best person for the job before the FA went and got him and I still think he is the best man for it, I genuinely think he has the experience and quality as a coach to succeed. People in general and especially the media are too quick to give the manager grief and get on his back when it's the players on the pitch that have to get the result once the game has kicked off. He seems to have learned from the mistakes he made in selection and is willing to try and change things to try and find the right formula.

Good solid performance last night, I hope Dawson isn't too badly injured I thought he looked good until he came off. I thought we looked a lot more balanced last night and it showed in the second half performance. I think we'll do just fine.

Full of their own self importance.

Yes they can just about string a sentence together but really a sports journo nowadays is no better than a celebrity blogger.

Resonally I would pull their limbs off one by one live on BBC1. The viewing figures would be significant.

Unfortunately I don't think there is another option-mind you both full-backs are poor defensively but two of the best going forward.
A very comfortable victory which could well have happened if even Lampard and Terry had been playing.
Defoe did what Defoe can do-score goals against weak opposition that give him a bit of room but when he comes up against stronger and better defenders he tends to get outmuscled and presumably that is why Capello stuck so often with Heskey.
The other point of course is that we were playing at home and when we play away we are seldom as good so if we win well against Switzerland I think we might all be able to believe again.
Interestingly there were only two players from the so-called big two,i.e one each from Man Utd and Chelsea so maybe we are a better team without so many big egos.

Hoop Blah
Super_horns Capello probably a god again in the press then tomorrow...

Heard Henry Winter say last night..

"Liked Capello before the World, but wanted him out afterwards"

Word fickle came to mind!

Anyway good showing tonight...Hart was excellent and Rooney looked like he wanted to be in the game.

There were/are some pretty compelling arguments to support Winters view there though, none more so than he largely proved he couldn't do the one thing he was brought in to do, improve our tournament winning prospects.

I

I agree there were mistakes made in the WC which is exactly why we must not over-hype the team based just on qualiflying from a fairly easy group as the press do

Terry and Lampard out. Interesting, as most seem to blame them for our inept World Cup. With them now absent, who will be picked on as we struggle in our first two Euro 2012 qualifiers ?

Oh how we missed those pi$$ takers who "played" during the world cup

Row Z Royal Obviously I'm years behind the times, but I didn't realise Mihaylov was the son of ours.

Anyway, Johnson is a complete turd and Dawson looks like his season's under threat with a fairly grim-looking knee injury.

I don't do knees /shudders.

Johnson is turd? Seriously?

The first thing I saw when I switched it on was Johnson making a one-two and missiling a cross into the box that a defender cleared, after 11 minutes or so. Factoid.

LOL @ me

I thought you meant Adam instead of Glen

G Johnson is there purely by default IMO, Micah Richards should be pushing him much much more

Johnson is a footballer who can tackle a bit, hence he plays at full-back, similar to Cole, although Cole is a little better in defence. Richards is a mediocre centre-back who can play football a bit, hence he has played at full-back too. Since Neville's injury we just haven't found what you'd call a genuine defender in that position, but then is a new Stuart Pearce, albeit it a right-footed one, what the national team needs in the 'modern game'?

No, no and no. It's the worst kit we've had since the early 80's. The grandad look just doesn't work. The white and blue combo it top - totally ruined by the front "design".
