Maguire If you go in that hard and from that far away then you have to get the ball. He didn't, he's off. Simple..

Big Foot Perhaps I'm speaking out of turn but I didn't think Henry's tackle or the one by De Jong were as bad as people made out to be prior to my viewing. Bit of an anti-climax really.

TBM :? how can people say Henrys tackle was only a yellow..........if Gomez wasn't light on his feet and his standing foot was rooted to the spot then he would have broken his leg - just cos the tackle didn't end with the player going off injured it doesn't make it any less dangerous/reckless.
Even Mick McCarthy agrees it was a red

Not saying it wasn't a red
However, the way it'd been built up before I saw it I was expecting all out affray

Kitson12 After seeing De Jong's challenge, I'm amazed he didn't even see yellow, let alone red. No wonder he's been dropped from the full Dutch squad.

Wonder if the red card will harm Karl Henry's England chances

Whilst he's probably a long way down the list. for me there is a definite case if they want to play the 'defensive midfielder' in a 4-5-1 for someone of his type, or someone like Lee Cattermole. Fine line between being a hard player and being a dirty player. I'd say Cattermole edges towards the latter but with Kevin Davies getting his first call up to the squad it's not completely ridiculous to say someone like Henry or Cattermole won't ever get a call up. After Gareth Barry's atrocious world cup he was extremely lucky to keep his place in there.
