He was playing, scoring and assisting for Villareal last season. He's also one of these players that 'never had pace' so can probably still cut it at a fairly decent level.

He played 30 times in La Liga last season, I'd be amazed if someone doesn't pick him up sharpish. In fact the publicity might kill this deal for Crawley, unless he knows someone there (hence the 'talks' in the first place). Would welcome Pires at RFC!

The publicity works completely in Pires' favour. The only reason I can think of for him being off the radar for other clubs is the concern about wages - if Crawley can pick him up then surely other teams can afford him too.

Bl00dy Foreigners diving about. I've never seen English players like Rooney, Gerrard or Owen dive.
