Marcus Hahnemann

by AthleticoSpizz » 14 Nov 2010 23:43

Discarded by us

Slagged off by many of you on here, even whilst he was our No1

Signed by Wolves as their third choice keeper, easily displaced their Welsh No1 from their Premiership starting line-up

Now doing the pundit thing on the BBC on a Sunday night as well.

I still remember his debut for us

Legend. Great bloke, fantastic goalkeeper the best I've personally seen at Reading.

Great bloke but was the right time to let him go, happy to see him doing well and right up there with Shaka as the best I've seen.

He had become stale with us and looked like the "spark" had gone from his game. The move to Wolves reignited him....and he hasn't looked back.

Shaka > Marcus > Steve Francis > Jim Leighton > Tommy Wright > Whitehead > Federici > Hammond > Mihaylov > Phil Burns > Bibbo > Sheppard > Peter van der Kwaak > playing without a goalkeeper > Scott Howie.

He was no Steve Death but would probably be in the top 3 of keepers during my watch.

I think it was a good time for him to move. There's no dispute he could still have performed very well for us, but it's also obvious that essentially he was too expensive (and possibly too good) for us when he left.

Best 'keeper I've seen for us IMO (I'm discounting Shaka as I only saw him in what amounts to about games, which isn't enough and he let in about 5 or 6 goals)

nice to see him on MOTD2

Shaka was better, but Marcus runs him close imo.

I was 8 when Hislop left, i did see him play a few times for and obviously since leaving Reading. I saw the vast majority of Hahnemann's game's so easier for me to make judgement.

To answer an earlier point yes he is twice as good as Federici, in my opinion.
