Buying Tickets

by Mike Hunt » 21 Nov 2010 22:19

Hi all,

I am coming over from Australia to watch the Royals play Coventry.

Should I buy the tickets online, or should I get one when I rock up?

If I was to buy online, do they need to send the ticket, or can I pick it up on the day?

Cheers :)

If you have a members card buy in advance. You can arrange to collect from the ticket office on the day of the game. (Or even before I would think)
If you purchase on the day of the game I think each ticket will cost you a few pound more.

Cheers guys...

Don't have a members card, so I will have to buy on the day. Not too fussed about the extra cost,'I just hope I get good seats! Apparently Y25 is the place to be?

Y25 is the place to be if you want to stand. Situated next to the away fans, so there will be a traditional British slugfest over the barriers.

You may be able to buy Derby tickets on the day of the Coventry game. But don't hold me to that. Also how do you plan on getting to Derby?

was thinking of going with the Star Bus...

Or train it from London as that is where I will be...

Bit scared though, I have seen Green Street Hooligans.

You will need to be a STAR member to use the coaches. Possibly another £10 membership and then the cost of the coach and the additional travel to Reading. Usually the coaches leave around 10-11 depending so that seems more hassle than it's worth.

Picking up home tickets is never a problem with our average gate being 16K with away support.

Derby away is usually a day tripper match but it shouldn't again be a problem picking up a ticket.

As mentioned it would be better to get the ticket for the home match at the T/O and buy the away ticket at the same time. It saves money and additional travelling.

The coaches are a cramped environment but are convenient.

To get in for free - just inform the EP that you are coming from Australia to watch the games.

Not forgetting "used to go all the time (Season Ticket at Elm Park) but had to move abroad for work in the summer of 05 so missed the best part of our history".

Heya Nobbers,

what is the cheapest way to get from London to Reading?

I found a train that takes 30 mins, but it is 15 quid each way!

That's because our railways are run by the Dick Turpin/Ned Kelly consortium.

Seriously, though, the rail fares in the UK are all over the place. Seems that the whole pricing structure is based on stinging people who will pay the first price quoted. If you shop around, you may well get a better price. I'm told that trainline.com aren't bad.

I presume you are staying/doing the tourist thing in London.
If that isn't the case, you should be aware that there is a direct coach service, called Railair, that runs between Heathrow and Reading.

Or the Waterloo chug train which takes longer, is boring, but possibly slightly cheaper without hauling yourself to Paddington.
