Couldn't get in the hotel

by Nobby » 27 Nov 2010 23:54

Does anyone know if there is some kind of policy about controlling the number going in the hotel?

I went to go in after the Leeds game and they were controlling entry, like it was the bluddy Purple Turtle or something.

I P1ssed off home. I'm not queuing in the cold to pay their frigging prices.

Usually ST or member card holders only on match day. IF there was evidence of away support with member cards then possibly more diligence was being observed. TBH if you don't get in early, it's a nightmare getting served in there.

There's always a capacity limit - and the higher the attendance at a match, the quicker that capacity is reached.

There was a Christmas party upstairs so the Windsor Lounge was not available and in addition the hotal had over 300 guests (Leeds and Newbury races) so the stewards told me they had to restrict the numbers of those who were not hotel 'guests' to 100.

To quote them before the game - the bar will be rammed if we don't keep the numbers down. As one who got in it was very crowded.

It was far busier at the Liverpool game last season and I didn't have to queue to get in.

Good, at least it's a one off, then.

Don't suppose anyone would know if the Jazz Cafe was any cheaper than the hotel?

I'd better make sure I get to the hotel early on Boxing Day. Don't want to miss out the "matchday experience" of an over-priced pint of piss in a plastic pot whilst stood in an airport departure lounge.

Sad truth is - where else would you go round there?

Did you question why the club booked the room out at the expense of the supporters in the biggest gate of the season or did you just nod your head turn round bend over and say Yes Please!

Much as I applaud the side swipe at STAR - you're not seriously suggesting the hotel give priority to match day drinkers ahead of hotel residents TMD? That's madness.

No no no. I totally agree that the hotel residents get priority.

What I'm shocked with is the club choosing to host an Xmas party in the upstairs bar on the busiest day if the season and shafting it's own supporters in doing so.

Wouldn't at all surprise me if STAR were in fact consulted, heard the word shafted, nodded turned around bent over and said Yes Please!

Absobloodyexactly.

One of the many reasons why home games are a rarity for me these days.

A big LOL to think that Madejski would turn down 3 Grand + bar receipts to allow a few Royals fans unfettered access to a hotel bar for an hour before the game and an hour afterwards.

C'mon folks, get real.

royalexile Planning and timing.

So the club should ask to move all fixtures that clash with Hotel Xmas parties?

Simple economics. The Hotel is a separate entity and have to get maximum occupancy and maximize revenue streams. Having a christmas party will generate far more money than matchday bar receipts on a game. It's frankly rediculous that anyone should suggest that the hotel shouldn't hold christmas parties on matchdays.

I can't even believe people are arguing over this.

That's twice you've said that.

I took TMD's comments with normal pinch of salt but rex's? If that's a whooshable comment consider it done.
