royalexile Some of the team are at this shop on Thursday. Promotional push ahead chaps.

I look forward to seeing them in a row at the counter, trying to get items into the bag.

Let's hope they give Shane Long the biggest bags etc etc.

Ian Royal I would say there is zero point in having a shop unless it is turning at least a decent profit.

Thank you Lord Sugar.

It's a concept some seemed to be struggling with.

Agreed in principle, although there are other, less-tangible benefits, from an in-town shop - like raising awareness of the club and reaching people you might otherwise not reach. Such things are expensive luxuries in the current commercial climate, though.

It's still a sound prospect for the club even if they are going to target the curious, even the impulse buying public who see the marked down shirts. It was enough for me to come away with the away shirt anyhow.

I imagine the cost would outweigh the income.

It's all to do with location. The last one was around in Market Place and hardly anyone knew about it. There are plenty of empty retail units in the upper mall of the Oracle which would definitely attract more customers. I'm sure they would allow a short term lease for the football club. It's better than having empty retail units.

But remember, Reading FC are pretty small minded in terms of marketing etc. Some towns/Cities you go to you can't escape the football club. You would never know the football club existed in Reading if you didn't know much about football..
