Fairy nuff. Only repeating the rumour not saying I believe it. Although anything's possible at that club.

If Pards gets the job he's dead in the water. The Noocastle fans(as he will refer to them as) will hate this appointment.

I think ultimately, Pardew was unlucky at West Ham but surely Newcastle is completely the wrong club for a man with such a rampant ego.

Pards' opening speech is easy though - 'you all loved having Chris in charge so do what you were doing for him and I'll try to earn your respect like he did'.

Or is that too humble for our Alan?

One bloke has this as his signature already

Alan Pardew?! Is Mike Ashley taking the piss? He may as well give the job to Gazza with the ghost of Raoul Moat as assistant manager

Alan Pardew can fuck off.

That is all

the thought of Pardew at the club after all the good work Hughton has done just makes me sick

Harpers So Solid Crew Must have been the nightlife attracted him.

I've had worse. No wonder Andy Carrol slaps them after shagging them.

There are quite a few people with short memories....Pardew is a decent manager and if he's given a chance could do a decent job. He proved that at West Ham and Southampton - whether he can (allegedly) keep his nob in his trousers is another matter.

The problem here is not him it's the Newcastle fans who still seem to be believe in the face of 50 odd years of mediocrity that their club is Barcelona. Don't let all this noise about Hughton distract you there was still a reasonably sized portion of the fans who didn't think he was right for the job.

They really are a shower.

I agree Leon. Pardew is a good manager and knows what he wants from his players and has proven he can get results. A bit like Hoddle though, he seems to have a problem keeping it all together.

Without the backing of the fans he's just going into a situation where he's onto a hiding to nothing though. They hate Ashley, he's Ashley's man. They liked Hughton and didn't want him sacked, he's replacing him. They hate cockney's and Ashley 'cockney mafia' and he's as London as you can get.

If he wins them over it'll be a miracle.

Taking Charlton out the equation:

-Reading- Play offs, promotion, play offs, then left with us in the top 4

-West Ham- Promotion, 9th in the Premier League, FA Cup final

-Southampton- Johnstone Paint trophy winners, Just missed play offs with a 10 point deduction.

Not a bad CV.

Im not saying id be over the moon after the sterling job Hughton did, but it certainly could be worse.

I don't have 1 ounce of sympathy for Newcastle fans, they are as bigger twats that the board at the club. Deluded.

^that

Anyone looking at it impartially would come to the conclusion that this isn't that bad an appointment, obviously toon fans and Reading fans can't do this

Not a bad CV but not exactly someone with "more experience" that the Newcastle board promised

I think they were hoping for Jol but he's ruled himself out

That and the possibility that he was being tapped up behind hughton's back, are they big negatives, but he does have more experience. It's just that as soon as Ashley says more experience people (well, Toon fans) imagine it's someone with european cups under his belt

maybe but can pardew really turn Newcastle into a team that fights for Europe each year? - although he's more experienced that Hughton at being a first team manager, i dont personally think he will do better

I'm not sure "tapping up" applies with someone who's a free agent. Ashley's not broken any actual rules.

Morally, it stinks, of course, but is that any surprise with him?

the length of the contract actually makes the initial disbelief at the appointment seem small-beer naivety
