Row Z Royal Pards' opening speech is easy though - 'you all loved having Chris in charge so do what you were doing for him and I'll try to earn your respect like he did'.

Or is that too humble for our Alan?

No,sounds about right.
Perhaps he will then go on with the usual stuff such as:-
This is a MASSIVE club with FANTASTIC fans,it doesn't get much BIGGER.
A club with a GREAT history and I have HUGE respect for the GROSSLY OVERWEIGHT (oops) chairman and the blokes and birds in Noocarsall-LARGE is the new slim.
I am TREMENDOUSLY honoured to be given one of the HIGHEST accolades in WORLD football, management of Newcastle United football club and have such ENORMOUS respect for the chairman in placing his chips (oops again, that was last week in the CAPITAL of England at the casino) in placing his faith in the BEST manager in the country on the LONGEST contract ever given.
I will work night and day for this club and shag as many players' wives as it takes so that I can get where I want this FAMOUS club and me to be-ON TOP (or otherwise if the wives prefer it).

The first of my wall decorations in the dressing room will be "Think BIG" followed by "I'm the manager and don't forget it" and then by "Please write the mobile phone no.s of your wives and girl friends" er..in case I need to contact you (or them).

In time I think the word "Pardew" in the Oxford English dictionary will read "hype and no substance".

"Good luck Alan, you are going to need it", a card signed by chairmen and fans of
West Ham
Charlton
Southampton.
Does anybody know if this is a new Premier League record, being sacked from the 3 previous successive managerial jobs and then get a five and a half year contract at a club placed mid-table in the Premier League?

With a 5 year contract he's well protected for when the inevitable chop comes and, a bit like when he renegotiated his contract at Reading before walking out, I bet he's got a lot of performance related bonuses on top of that £500k.

Interesting that he wore a black tie-was it for his own funeral after he gets stabbed in the back by the owner?
Also he said he met Llambias on a number of occasions at charity events-sounds better than the reported meetings in casinos.

TBM
Silver Fox That and the possibility that he was being tapped up behind hughton's back, are they big negatives, but he does have more experience. It's just that as soon as Ashley says more experience people (well, Toon fans) imagine it's someone with european cups under his belt

maybe but can pardew really turn Newcastle into a team that fights for Europe each year? - although he's more experienced that Hughton at being a first team manager, i dont personally think he will do better

yes but that's the 64K dollar question for every premier league club - Newcastle have just spent the last 5 years in turmoil - they've just been promoted back to the PL - they need to consolidate not go for Europe (but tell that to the Geordie twats)

Pardew does actually have a hell of a lot more experience than Hughton (who it must be said shouldn't have been sacked in the 1st place)

Newcastle’s search for a manager with good experience of being sacked is nearing a conclusion after it was revealed that Alan Pardew will take over as boss in the next 24 hours with a view to being sacked at the end of the season following a successful relegation.

The former Reading, West Ham, Charlton and Southampton boss was among the favourites to take over, and it is believed that he was chosen in favour of Martin Jol who didn’t possess the required record of dismal failure that the Newcastle owner is thought to be looking for.

Pardew was sacked by League One club Southampton earlier this season amid increasing speculation amongst supporters of the South coast club that he was a shit manager, with all the motivational qualities of a yeast infection.

This speculation is believed to have alerted Ashley, who was becoming increasingly concerned at the good job that Chris Hughton was doing, with the 5-1 win over fierce rivals Sunderland prompting him to review the manager’s position.

Alan Pardew Newcastle Manager

Chairman Ashley told reporters, “Alan is just the sort of manager that I want at this club.”

“I wanted someone that would leave the Newcastle fans open-mouthed with disbelief. Someone that they wouldn’t have even considered a possibility for the manager’s position. Someone who will really get the fans going and set the place alight.”

“I believe appointing Alan will do all of those things and so much more.”

Newcastle fans have been quick to agree with Ashley’s assessment, with one telling us, ”I’m speechless, tell me this isn’t true!”

“Right, I’m going to Ashley’s place to set fire to the fat prick!”

I was going to say that would be one of the lowest Premier League wages and surely wasn't right, but if this is correct, Hughton was only on £250k a year - http://www.trophy4toon.co.uk/salaries.html

Arsene Wenger Arsenal £6 million
Alex McLeish Birmingham £2 million
Sam Allardyce Blackburn £2 million
Carlo Ancelotti Chelsea £6 million
David Moyes Everton £3 million
Roy Hodgson Liverpool £3 million
Roberto Mancini Manchester City £3 million
Alex Ferguson Manchester United £3 million
Chris Hughton Newcastle £250k
Avram Grant West Ham £1.3 million
Fabio Capello Engand £6 million
Giovanni Trapattoni Republic Of Ireland £1.5 million

Even Allardyce at a poorly supported club like Blackburn can earn £2m a year.

Very much doubt it - not withstanding his "personal problems" he'd still need to:

a) get in the 1st XI

b) displace Ferdinand, Gerrard and Lampard in the captaincy pecking order.
