I've never understood the popularity of that metaphor. It doesn't make a blind bit of sense, as well as being a dull-witted cliche (which should be avoided like the plague, obviously).

More evidence of subtle racism, tbh

What? Where is the racism in a phrase that used against a player of any colour?

Is this like the UK being miles behind Europe in termsmof gay rights, ie total bollocks?

gazzer, loyal royal his dad, who is also his agent, thought James was beyond where he actually was and subsequently told him so. hence his attitude problem!

And you know that for confirmed fact?

If you frequent UR&G, you will know that gazzer is legit.

I do and I'm not knocking him as he's proven that he's ITK

But how does he know that JH's attitude is 100% solely down to his Dad's actions?

No, but it is a bit like fishing in a very shallow barrel.

Well done, I'd given you a little more credit than that.

A rapist doesn't, I'd assume, have the most gentle or caring touch. Those with a better touch in football caress the ball and treat it gently.

I think it's a pretty simple metaphor really Rev, if a little blunt.

maybe, but would you say (without wanting to provoke snowball too much) shane long treats the ball "roughly"? There's nothing aggressive of forceful about it, just clumsy.

You might say he can roughly trap a ball, but that's something entirely different.

The first touch of a clumsy 15 year old trying to unhook a bra, doesn't quite trip off the tongue as easily. Although it may well be that Garth Crooks has used that expression before without us noticing.

On the subject of Henry, good mazy run from him today against Swansea, shame he didn't score.

Genuine question, did the serious injury he picked up at 16 hinder his progress at all? It kept him out for most of a season didn't it? He's not looked like he's got great pace to me, like Beckham in that respect, but maybe he was quicker at that age for example?

I saw a bit of him playing pre-injury and he never looked like he was a quick quick player. He wasn't lacking in pace, but he's never been a rapid winger like some of his peers such as Hayes or Campbell.

He's always been a more technical player and I've always likened him to David Bentley in that respect.

I'm impressed, and pleased for him, that he's held down his place in a Championship side that's pushing for the playoffs. I've always liked him as a player and was a bit gutted when he left.

As is always going to be a problem for young players who are anything but exceptional, trying to break into a team past more experienced professionals is going to be extremely tough.

I suspect we'll lose better players than Henry in similar circumstances over the years. It's a shame, but it's also a good way to bring in a steady cash flow.
