Snowball Self-Made. Burnley
Just three minutes later we had the lead and it was a goal all of Shane Long's making. He picked the ball up perhaps 20 yards inside the Burnley half and left Leon Cort for dead with his pace and power. The Clarets' defender attempted a challenge inside the area, but was much too late and clearly fouled the Irishman as he was in on goal. It looked a clear goalscoring opportunity and there was nobody between Long and the goal, but referee Miller only showed a yellow card. Despite Brian Jensen's attempt at timewasting antics, Long stepped up calmly and scored low to the 'keeper's right for a goal all that came completely from his own hard work.

Tbf I think he had an assist from Nigel Miller on that one.

I checked. Can't find a stat for "ref assists"

Gordons Cumming
Warfield North Stand Well said Gordon Cummings,I have been saying that for months. My brother( not a Reading fan), was sitting next to me at Preston away while they were doing said shooting pratice. He was nearly in tears of laughter. Long did not put it into the net once. He was woeful. You should of seen his face when I said he was our "main striker"!!

What Long needs is a big guy alongside him to hold up the ball. Hunt or Church are too similar.

Someone like Grant Holt........

Thats why I think we should have kept Rasiak. He would have given us a different option and dimension to our play upfront and would be an ideal partner for Shane Long to allow him to get in better positions to score goals. Rasiak would have won the majority of high balls upfront for Long to pick up the pieces and have a goal scoring opportunity.

I want to watch Fringe at 10. It really is 100 times a lot more interesting than the entire Team board.

Yeah, very odd decision to get rid without a replacement. Especially sending Bignall & Mooney out. Then again no one other than Long is getting much of a look in anyway, so we may as well just have the one striker.

Ian Royal Childish rants containing nonsense exageration are unlikely to have any affect other than to make people think you're a cock end.

The chances of McDermott reading anything on here, let alone a thread where he's being called a pillock, and changing what he's doing because of it, are about as miniscule as the chances of me meeting Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie & Eliza Dushku tomorrow and having a rampant and extremely enjoyable foursome with them on the moon.

Cheers mate, never heard of her until I read your post, let us know how your moon fling goes!

Rasiak not setting the Cypriot league alight though. 0 goals from 13 appearances.

Ian Royal Here we go again, snowball making a thread that should die a quick death go on interminably along the same lines as half a dozen others he's ruined.

TBF, how can anyone ruin the stupidest thread I've seen on here, started by the dimmest poster (excluding WSF, obviously)?

Ahhh-haha! I didn't say he was ruining this one, just prolonging it. Because I agree it was ruined from the OP.
