Nat Lofthouse 1925-2011

by prostak » 16 Jan 2011 01:47

One of the greatest English strikers passed away on Saturday night, aged 85.

I just hope he wasn't awake for that Stoke performance, to be honest...

The epitome of "good old-fashioned English centre-forward".
Strong player and very good in the air.
As Tom Finney has been Mr Preston so Nat has been Mr Bolton where he spent most of his career if not all of it.
I always thought that Nat was a great name to have and one of those names where everyone would know who you were just through a first name.
Good to see that he had a long life and a shame that he was around too early to earn the big bucks that so many mediocre players now earn.

30 goals in 33 appearances for England.
255 goals in 452 appearances for Bolton Wanderers.

The word legend is often over used in football, but in Nat Lofthouse's case it was rightfully deserved.

RIP

Completely agree, what an idiotic comment.

RIP, great contributions to the game, his memory will be here for a very long time.
