winchester_royal On MNF Keys and Gray are in the studio....never commentating. So Allardyce being the co-commentator is completely irrelevant.

And they've been stepped down from that and replaced by Dave Jones and Jamie Redknapp

I never argued with that.

But still.....hopefully Keys gets the sack. Must be in the minority who quite like Andy Gray though.

I think having that conversation is a little unprofessional and I actually think what they were saying was largely bollox. however, no one and I mean no one, can honestly say they have not had a conversation amongst freinds that they would be hugely embarrassed by were it to be put in the public domain.

This is not a sacking offence, nor is it worthy of the level of coverage it is getting

But it wasn't "a conversation between friends." It was a conversation at the workplace, albeit with the mics turned off. I wouldn't be surprised to be reprimanded at my place of work if I was sounding off with racist or sexist rubbish.

rhroyal
Svlad Cjelli It's interesting that Sky are considering their position, wheras Atkinson was out on his ear alomost immediately. So that means sexism is less of an offence than racism.

It's not really in the same league as calling Desailly a "fcuking lazy nigger". I'm sure if they'd thrown out a couple of words like "slag" or "slut" they'd be out by now.

I'm torn about this. My initial feeling was the same as rhroyal's - the racial epithet that Atkinson used was the main cause of offence, and there's no equivalent here. But then, what Keys and Gray have said is that a woman is incapable of doing the assistant ref job because of her gender. What would have happened if Atkinson had said that, as a black player, Desailly was bound to be a rubbish footballer, and that someone at Chelsea had "f*cked up big time" by signing a black player? I think he would have been sacked just the same. Sky won't do it, but I think they should probably go.

It's not a shock that the other news outlets are rubbing their hands at a chance to give their pals at Sky a good kicking though is it?

Some fella on R5 this morning Women going over the top yet again. If tv presentors should be in trouble for sexism then the whole Loose Women panel should be fired ages ago

Agree with R5 man, seems very unbalanced on the side of women this, if a female presenter had said this about a man not much would be said about it.

I look forward to all the 'equality for women' type birds coming out and complaining that they want these things more equal as this is unfair on men.............oh

Still, slating people in your industry while at your workplace is not the most intelligent thing to do and if I was caught doing it I would be in trouble

'Greed. The stuff men have to put up with in our society is shocking.

I mean there's Loose Women, for one.

Sky are in a difficult position now - I agree it's not really (or shouldn't be) a sackable offence in its own right but as a media company they can hardly not be seen to react when bigoted or misogynistic comments are espoused by two of their most high profile employees.

Not sure that Gray and Keys have much room for manoeuvre here - an apology would be viewed as trite, the "joke" defence doesn't really fly in cases such as this, and they're not going to backtrack and say that with the benefit of further training they were wrong. Remember the cringeworthy attempts to rehabilitate Big Ron?

What happens next time there's a contested decision involving a female official and they're on air. They've lost whatever air of authority they might have had.

I think they're toast.

Easy way for Sky to get rid of them if they wanted to. You never know, they may have already discussed getting rid of them at times and could use this as a 'good' PR way of doing it.

Couldn't care less about old hairy hands but Gray can f**k off every day of the week.

It's a good question, Kes. I'd have to say that, of the Keys/Gray victims, she's probably third behind Wendy "not a Tom" Toms and the outright winner, Karen Brady.

Indeed, you'd feel that the Sky 2 would have received much more public support had they gone into a filth-filled diatribe about what they'd like to do with Brady's massive milkers and softly-welcoming embrace. A useful reminder that the real crime is being half-hearted in one's passions.

Having had time to rethink and re-evalu8 I've come to the conclusion that women shouldn't be allowed anywhere near football stadiums. Not even if it's just to serve beer at half time.

My take on it is "what creep decided that this needed airing?"
The problem lies IMHO with the creep rather than with Gray or Keys.
As an oldie I sometimes despair at what we have bred.
BTW this has had about 100 times as much airtime on a number of radio stations today as 30 people being killed by a suicide bomber in Russia but there again a few Ruskis dying is insignificant compared with a few words that TV people said off-air about a British woman.

floyd__streete Keys is clearly a f*cking arrogant tool anyway and an utter moron; this embarassing episode is not even the first time he has been caught thinking he has his mic switched off - he upset the whole of Scotland with his disparaging comments about their game with the Faroe Islands a few years back.

Agreed. Neither he or Gray would be any kind of loss at all. Over-paid for being at the very best mediocre at their jobs. Any excuse to get rid of them would be fine by me.

Agreed. I'd have loved to have been given the opportunity to listen to 5 hours uninterrupted coverage about that particular tragedy.

Maybe the creep is a woman who serves them refreshments, powders their nose or waits hand and foot on them in some other way and has got fed up with their misogyny? Who knows eh?

I'm relatively indifferent to them - Keys is just a presenter, Gray I quite like now and then, and I enjoy his post-Super Sunday analyses of all the games. But if he was mediocre, would he really have held down this job since the early 90s (and Keys and Tyler for that matter). Either they genuinely are the cream of the crop, or Sky think they are, or they are too much part of the 'furniture' of the Sky football package to dispense of.
