Nigel Clough's comments..

by biscuitman » 24 Jan 2011 15:30

Derby manager Nigel Clough on his side's seventh defeat in nine games:
"It's got to be put into perspective, you can look at the last eight weeks or two years.

"Is there any other Championship club in that time that's brought in more money than it's spent and reduced the wage bill by nearly half? We are still just about keeping our heads above water.

"If there's any other Championship club that's done that in the last couple of seasons we would like to know who they are."

Errr Reading.

I may (probably) be wrong but I thought we had made a loss over the last two seasons.

The accounts aren't availably yet so we can't really know.

The club has stated that it's had to sell to reduce wage bill and generate funds.

To be clear - I thought we had made a combined loss from our last two published set of accounts.

I can't remember tbh, I think the point stands that RFC is in a comparable situation to Derby.

Not sure about figures for Reading let alone Derby. He said this to the BBC after the Forest game. He's the luckiest manager alive, they'll stick by him even if they get relegated because of this 8 year plan shite the board has.

I think he remains in the job because of his surname.

We've made a profit in the last two years.

Our liabilities are down by £10m from what they were last year.

To be fair, we also had a far better starting point. Their relegation team was light years behind ours. They can't have made much money in sales!

fcuk knows why this ahs got people so het up, looks like a manager bemoaning his situation, do you really expect him to assess the financial position of all 23 clubs in the league, let alone remember insignificant Reading?
