Apparently Gray is considering (another) legal action. The way this had played out stinks to high heaven but it’s difficult to sue somebody for doing the right thing for the wrong reason.

I mean who saved all these clips up and why? If you work for Sky and have a grudge to pursue why risk leaking them to Sky News of all places rather than another, unconnected news group?

There is a bit of a stitch up going on here. The version of the "microphone stuffing" incident appears to have been edited by zooming in a bit so you can't see Charlotte laughing at AG's comment. Here is the version being shown now..

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9373280.stm

The version used yesterday briefly showed her laughing after the comment...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5Ghz1n8N18

The sites that showed the "laughing" version yesterday, eg Mail, have changed to show the new edited version.

Agreed, noticed this on Sky News - first watched the clip online and you can see her laughing at the initial comment before she continues to get ready for the show.

Even on the wider screen HD channel, she is cut off the right hand side of the screen.

RobRoyal
Victor Meldrew Can't wait for the moment when a female presenter says something off-air or on-air to a male colleague or interviewee of a comparable sexist nature.
Maybe Sue Barker when swooning over David Ginola or
Hazel Irvine referring to Linford's lunch-box or
Gabbi Logan getting excited about rugby players in the showers and how very dare any of them confess to ever having watched The Chippendales.

What has any of that got to do with making out like women are incapable of raising a flag at an offside decision?

Because it has very little to do with that and is much more about where to put the microphone.

No way you can tell if it's a laugh or a nervous smile.

There've been loads of times in my life where someone important has made an inappropriate comment (normally race) and rather than look outraged I've probably given a similar look and left them too it.

Trouble is, folk like that are too thick to see it as anything other than approval

That Friday Feeling No way you can tell if it's a laugh or a nervous smile.

Agree, but when the BBC show the edited version and claim it shows "Gray making a suggestive comment towards colleague Charlotte Jackson, who does not openly react" and they have shown a version deliberately edited to remove her reaction it kinda stinks.

Not that it might not be relevant but I see in today's paper there is a picture of the Sky girl in a bikini and the accompanying story was that she has previously posed for (and presumably got paid)a lads mag.
This implies to me that she is not averse to earning money by titillating the male species on the basis that it's usually men who buy the lads mags.
I wonder if Andy Gray's lawyers are now approaching whoever took those photos to establish whether the girl ever said anything sexually provocative to the photographer or whether he said anything to her that she accepted at the time to be sexist.
This is not a 60 year-old spinster sunday school teacher who just might have been offended by Gray's suggestion.

Some people might use the example that prostutes can still be raped as a counter argument but I reckon Gray would have had previous banter with this girl and that he has now been stitched up by what I called in earlier posts a creep.
Do we really want an abundance of creeps in our society who delight in snitching?
I don't but maybe some of you on here do and if so I hope that you get snitched upon.

sandman Has "Steve the cameraman" been sacked yet? And where are the banning orders for every bloke in the Stadium who thought the exact same thing? It's a disgrace!!!

erm slight difference between thinking it, in your own brain, or saying it to the bloke next to you in your lesiure time
and saying it out loud while in the work place where people can hear you/record you

whats that got to do with lewd/sexist comments and attitudes in the work place.

could you get away with saying" while your down there love" to a new colleague, in hearing distance of your boss?

not many could

cmonurz No, it's not.

But Gray/Keys/Burton didn't do this 'in the media' - all three of the comments/actions were off-air, no more or less lewd or inappropriate than conversations we have probably all had with workplace colleagues to some extent. The microphone one is unfortunate, but the SSN presenter was clearly not particularly fussed and I'd be generous enough to assume Gray wouldn't have done it had he not been pretty comfortable she would take it as a joke (I'm assuming they know each other fairly well).

Not excusing his sexism, but if this is a sackable offence then an awkward precedent has been set.

the way i see it, could you say something of this nature in work-in earshot of those in charge regarding someones ability to work due to skin colour?
then why can you do it regarding sex.

Also digging up that incident from December that he hadn't previously been warned about is oxf*rd scandalous.
That was even more of a nothing incident.

clearly its a point of sexual harassment, innapropriate comments/attitude in the work place- and clearly 10 times as bad as the lino comments

The decision to give Andy Burton a one game ban for his comment of "she's a bit of a looker" is even more staggering. FFS, this comment was made two hours before the game and was also off the air.

cant disagree that this, and the decision to remove the lino from her next game are frickin stupid decisions, made by nob heads

many people would laugh in the face of such innapropriate behaiviour. its a response to be being made to feel uncomfortable.

though i would like to see what her comments are now- if she made a complaint at th etime, if she felt harassed, but didnt want to say something as she was new, and he in a position of power.

that's sensible I reckon, they didn't want to make the whole match a televised thing about a young linesman, let them get on with the game. this'll all blow over soon enough and she'll be back and we'll hardly care.
