I have a massive soft spot for wiry, nails but actually fairly rubbish centre-mids of this nature and was actually quite chuffed for him last night.

Especially after he'd already hit the post twice.

I also like Stuart Holden. Very similar.

From the sublime to the ridiculous, Green's first save with the wrong hand, thrust out at the last millisecond, was supreme. Then he follows it up by pretty much forgetting to use his hands for Gardner's winner.

Did you spot where he chickened out (or thought his other midfielder was going to) of a challenge on Cole which gave him a free shot at goal?
He definitely made up for it with the winner and the two shots that hit the post.
Very much neutral about the outcome so I really enjoyed seeing a team come from behind and win against the odds.
On balance I probably prefer Brummies to East Enders (please Thought Police don't attack me for being regionalist).

Made me laugh how they kept referring to him as "true blue Craig Gardner" or "Birmingham born and bred Craig Gardner" or "loyal Blue, Craig Gardner"........

He played for Villa for 5 years

He's always been a Birmingham fan, iirc. Younger brother is still at Villa.

Except he's actually quite good... Yet another incidence of Scottish FA incompetence, losing him to USA.

Might of been, sorry, was convinced after he scored it was him who kicked out.
