Buying Real Madrid and Barcelona tickets

by reading_fan » 06 Feb 2011 21:11

I'm looking at going to Spain in April for a two week visit to Madrid and Barcelona and am wanting to go to the football in both cities. Have done some research on the internet and have seen it's possible to get tickets through the official Barca website but not Real Madrids, however both clubs have numerous agencies selling tickets on their behalf. Has anyone used any of these agencies and can shed any light on how good/bad they are?

Thanks.

Barcelona - getting tickets was a piece of piss, caveated by the fact they were playing Zaragoza and not Real Madrid when I did it, which was walking into the ticket office on a whim the day before. I was presented with a choice of seats, and the staff spoke excellent English. Which was handy.

Madrid - never tried.

As has been said, getting tickets for Barca was simple - only thing, wrap up warmly; if its an evening game (and the one I went to was in late April when the day had been really hot) by half-time it will be freezing with a vicious cold breeze whipping in off the Med. (I was up on the 3rd tier, so unless your eyesight is pretty good, get a 2nd or 1st tier seat if you can).

Getting Madrid tickets wasn't easy; myself and another former Nobber went via an agency but it included flights and hotels as well - mind you, that was for a game v Barcelona! The problem is that the only way you will get a ticket is that way because Madrid is pretty well 100% membership; you only get a ticket if a member makes his ticket for that match available through an agent.

Got a ticket for a game at Real Mallorca's new(ish) ground a few Years ago; that was pay on the door so no issues.

We've chosen a week where both clubs are playing relative minnows to ease buying tickets, Madrid v Sporting Gijon and Barca v Almeria.

Mr A, which agency did they use and did you get the tickets delivered to you in England or to the hotel in Spain?

Barcelona dead easy - did this last year for my stag do. Got 18 tickets for Valencia.

Book direct off their club website, get to pick your seat etc. Tickets are surprisingly cheap depending on the category of the game.

Just remember to use the same debit/credit card when picking up the tickets on the day of the game.

You will however find that locals sit where they want, so you might not have exactly the allocated seat from your ticket.

buy the tickets from the club when you get there

unless its a barca v real game you should get them no problem

I got Espanyol v barca tickets from the espanyol ticket office 20 minutes before kick off
