TBH, I'll be trying to buy tickets. The benefit I'll receive from getting tickets for clients would far exceed the otherwise extortionate ticket price. I appreciate that this is (almost) everything that is wrong with football today.

Be interesting to see if they come up on e-bay and how much people would be prepared to pay. If you took the gamble and bought some and say Spurs made the final you would get idiots desperate enough to pay double face value.

An Arsenal supporting mate of mine went to the final in Paris, having booked his flight and tickets at the quarter final stage. Had he not got a ticket from the club he said he would have paid whatever it took from a tout.

When I asked how much would he pay he was evasive but appeared to be willing to pay up £1000 for a ticket. His justification was that this was the pinnacle of club football and having supported them for 30 years it was a major event in his life that he wasn't going to miss.

I doubt his views are unique.

Only caveat is that the 50,000 tickets for fans of the teams who get there will be a slightly more reasonable £80ish. Especially when you consider that many prem ticketd are £50 a go. Or compare it to say a twickenham rugby ticket.

UEFA are clearly taking advantage of the London market for these neutral tickets. Not suggesting it is right, but people should at least consider the context. UEFA made two mistakes with this announcement:-

1) they should have released the prices of the cheaper 50,000 'fans' tickets at the same time - this would have avoided the current confusion and belief that all tickets will be at these prices.

2) the admin fee is ridiculous, as much harder to justify as not related to market price. They would have been better off charging a higher base fee and lesser admin.

.

Some of the tickets for the finalists will be that price, but the majority will almost certainly be in the £150+ categories.

That pisses me off about Wembley, they have child ticket prices which are only valid in the the family area which are also cheapest adult price, these seats inevitably sell out first, so everyone pays the higher price to sit elsewhere.

It's profiteering, plain and simple.

Added bit of context, equivalent seat prices for lowest price tickets:-

England 6 nations - £80
Heineken Cup Final – £80
Wimbledon Final - £110
FA Cup Final - £60+
AFL Grand Final – £140+
Super bowl - £500+

They don't seem so bad in that light. Especially bearing in mind it is the most viewed annual sporting event in the world*

*note I think Superbowl 2011 reclaimed the title but I would expect this year's UCL final to surpass it once more. But look at the Superbowl prices!

The AFL one isn't quite right...

2010 Toyota AFL Grand Final tickets will be priced at $142.50 for standing room and restricted view (2009 price: $142.50); $161 for standard ($161); $235 for prime seats ($213.50); and, $270 for premium seats ($245).
http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/208/default ... wsid=96861

Current rate is about $1.50 to £1, but before the £ nosedived in 2009 it was more like $2.50 to £1, which would have put those terrace places at £57. The back of the bottom tier has two or three steps of terracing.

A minor point overall though....people should expect things to be expensive. People just didn't think they'd be that expensive.

I couldn't find anything which had the actual superbowl ticket prices. They don't seem bothered about high ticket prices in the states though. Perhaps that's because you have to be pretty loaded to be a season-ticket holder anyway. They do seem to have a very unsentimental attitude about it all, that it's business, and businesses can charge whatever they like for their product.
