Svlad Cjelli Don't knock Wickham's consolation goal - for those of us who had 3-1 at 25s it was a godsend!

My £3 quid on 3-1 got me quite a nice return :D

Hah.

Don't rub it in. You're talking to a man who had
Armstrong & 3-0 and was sitting on over £2500
when Leroy scored a pointless goal in the 94th
to make it 4-0

Moan #2) Reading fans. Who cares about the number there, 247 was a decent turnout considering four midweek away games in six weeks but seriously, Reading must be the only club in Britain where, at 3-0 up in injury time, a section of fans can chant about their fellow supporter's perceived lack of vocal support. Seriously seriously embarrassing and annoying at the same time, honestly, have a f*ckin look at yourselves. All game they were at it, yet the atmosphere they generated rarely ventured into any kind of positive support for the team, instead chanting at the rest of the away fans, the home fans, and quite disgracefully at Hal Robson-Kanu (we want our Kebe back) and Brian Howard - perceived laziness; "Get stuck in Howard you lazy f*cker", as if that's ever been his game at all?! Betrays a complete lack of intelligence to the game and knowledge of their own players). 1) Who the f*ck are you to tell me how I should support my team and 2) if you're not going to back the team regardless of whether you like a player or not then just don't bother turning up. My, and any other people's enjyment factor would increase immeasurably if you f*ckwits didn't bother to turn up at games.

caught between agreeing totally with the criticism of chanting and abusing our own players, and also wondering why people even go to away games if they dont want to sing at all.
but i guess its all personal choice.

I genuinely don't get the philosophy so many seem to have of deciding who you like and don't like and sticking to it regardless of what happens on the pitch.

Too many of our fans are retarded children in need of a good slap.

Right, being one of those 15 who were standing up the back, I feel the criticism of us singing the whole way through the match is pretty harsh. Had it not been for us there would have been little or no atmosphere whatsoever from the rest of the Reading fans.
Onto the chants, firstly the HRK one "we want our Kebe back" was sung ONCE, and was very tongue in cheek, sung when he ran the ball out of play, I, as many around me agreed, HRK had a very solid, and very good game. Onto Howard, the proverbial marmite player, he also had a good game, but sometimes you'd wish he was that little bit quicker, and got stuck in more. The "this is a shithole song" I frankly don't like and don't sing, others did, so what, just get on with it.
I'd like to point out that I don't agree with abusing our own players, but a little banter when they do something wrong doesn't hurt anyone, we certainly didn't scapegoat anyone.
Also, a little light hearted banter with our fellow fans isn't bad either, I mean, you pay £31 and don't bother singing? Come on.
Around 80% of our chanting last night was positive, and if at 3-0 you can't get behind the team then frankly what's the point?

M Brook Just walked through the door. Super performance - really encouraging but Ipswich were hugely disappointing - Wickham's consolation goal aside, they had minimal quality. A club in decline. Sad because they are always very friendly and welcoming.

Blimey - heavy traffic?

Throwing bananas and making monkey noises at opposition players was considered banter in the 80's.

If there's one word I hate more than any other in the English language, it's banter.

FWIW, I could hear the RFC fans loud and clear on the radio last night so fair play for that at least, but this doesn't diguise the fact that we have a good many chav twats following Reading.

royal jonesy91 Wats the leighterwood song that ur on about??? Couldn't go last night..

It's one of those ones where you end up with a team of Leigertwoods, a la the Phil Parkinson song. But it was done to a different tune (if you can call it that) and sounded appalling.

The teenage chav-army which follows RFC are best summed up by their chants of "f*ck off home" to Boro fans innocently supporting their team at 5-2 down on Saturday, despite having a cup run and five goals to sing about themselves. Bell-ends.

to watch the match, perhaps?

A radical idea, I know, but that might just be why some people go.

yeah i get it, i just dont get it...............

the atmosphere and banter was always what struck me as exactly the thing which differentiated being at a football game, from watching it at home on telly.

i did say it was totally up to them, but a good atmopshere is important to the team and performance, and is enjoyed by the fans,
what i dont get is those people who enjoy that atmposphere, but arent willing to contribute in any way.
of course its fine for people who dont enjoy the atmosphere to sneer and not join in.though im wholly glad that not all fans felt this way, or football would die.
but like i already said twice, its a personal choice.

Much more than Swindon. Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy with using that word in front of the children.

A little harsh? Yes there was some noise from you and fair play for wanting to create an atmosphere and granted there would have been very little noise were it not for you, but I have not disputed that at all, neither is it my point. As I have said, I would have happily led chants as I do most games were it not for my previous at Portman Road but the repertoire of chants last night was frankly embarrassing. From the off there were a number of chants aimed at the other fans there, and it seemed as though that when there was any prolonged gap you felt it needed to be filled in, and you can bet your life it was filled with another chant aimed at your own support or the opposition fans. A little lighthearted banter with opposing fans doesn't hurt anyone? Agreed, no it doesn't, but when that banter isn't returned? A bit pointless if you ask me. And anyway, I am not a fan of the manufactured pantomime atmosphere created by chants of "you're support is f*ckin sh*t" and the like. Spontaneous p*ss taking gets a thumbs up. Manufactured sh*t from unimaginative chavs is another thing altogether.

Fully take a rap for missing the humour behind the HRK chant, and indeed it was only chanted once but there were a number of comments aimed at him when he did something wrong from a number of people up there that I was within earshot of, so please forgive me if I misinterpret in the face of this evidence. That said, the abuse directed at Brian Howard (remember the "SUB! SUB! SUB!" chant when he was down injured at one point about 25 minutes in and wonder why I think like I do as a result?) is unwarranted. You wish he was that little bit quicker? Well he's not, so live with it. Got stuck in more? He's a midfield player, granted, but with a little bit of thought and, dare I say it, intelligence you would understand that "getting stuck in" isn't his game and never has been. With a little more thought and, dare I say it, intelligence you would have recognised that we were set up to play through Howard as he was the forward player in the midfield trio, complemented by the deeper lying duo of Leigertwood and Karacan. So, once again, please forgive me if I feel that Howard was made a scapegoat for a number of moves that broke down, but again the individual comments aimed at him leave me no option but to form the opinion that due to Long scoring goals and people actually realising that Harte is playing reasonably well, Howard is the new RFC fan whinge target.

80% of your chanting positive last night? Do me a favour. And "if you can't get behind your team at 3-0 then what's the point?" Well sir, I firstly redirect that question at you (seeing as your first thought seemed to be to have a go at us for daring to watch the rest of the game content that the game was won) and secondly point you in the direction of one of my initial comments - I have earned the right to support my team as I see fit having been to around 500-600 Reading games, and on that basis I will not be told how to support my team, particularly by a load of chavvy kids who, were I a footballer, aren't old enough to clean my boots.

Don't get the anti-Brian Howard brigade. I think he is a decent player and fits in well. Hasn't done anything wrong.

When are people going to stop worrying about what the fans of other clubs think of us? People are going to say and do things that you may not agree with. You can't change them so don't worry about it.
