Joke decision by the ref but I don't think it altered the outcome.

Barcelona would have sliced Arsenal's defence apart whether Van Persie was still on the pitch or not.

When he went off it didn't look likely that he would have been able to score, but much the same was true in the first leg at a similar stage of the game.

The clip you showed was 1-1 at the Bridge and we drew 0-0 away. So they didn't beat us.

Most fans would point to this with an air of sheepishness. Your average Chesea fan, however, clings to this fact with his life. As if itactually matters because history will always show that Barcelona won the tie on away goals, which in turn means that Chelsea lost the tie on away goals. Or put simply for the average Chelsea bessie mate fans with 9 Smiffy and 10 Nige on their replica shirts, Barcelona won and Chelsea lost.

Thankyou and goodnight.

That's like someone saying you couldn't guarantee a person would get wet if they stood in the path of Tsunami.

Although I don't share Spacey's hatred of Arsenal again I'm stuck by the sheer gracelessness of the team and management. Pep Guardiola embodies everything that Wenger should aspire to.

See you at the Bridge on the 16th - I'll be in the Directors if you want to pop by.

The things that grates me with Barcelona is the unnecessary play acting whenever they get challenged. Yet when the exact same happens to them, they are all over the ref complaining. Massive double standards.

The refs do seem to favour them no question. Look at the Inter Milan sending off last season as well.

I also really hate Dani Alves. What a horrible little c@nt.

A further observation from the pub I was in last night: glory hunting has gone European. Loads of English people in the pub acting as die hard Barca fans. Will have to adapt that chant now:-

"Were you born? Were you born? Were you born in Ca-ta-lon-i-a!"

A colleague of mine compared the game to England v Germany in the WC: suffered a massive injustice but everyone knows we were beaten by the better team.

That seems pretty spot-on. Everyone seems to be forgetting/ignoring that Barca were denied very good penalty shouts in the first half of both matches - Arsenal were perhaps as lucky to get away with both of those as they were unlucky to have RvP sent off.

I'd have more sympathy with Arsenal if they'd had a shot before RVP got sent off

BTW Seal - Busquets in last year's semi = top LOLz

tbf to Wenger he did say when interviewed immediately after the match that they'd been beaten by a terrific team the best in Europe before his rant about the ref. Also liked the way he was trying to keep a straight face when saying he'd told the ref face to face what he thought about the decision.

Utter nonsense. Yes there are a few Barca players that play act (busquets being the main culprit) but they're no different to any other team. If anything they're better because like Messi, Villa & Iniesta will stay on their feet and get the shot away. Given his stature and the amount of hefty challenges that Messi gets, it'd be so easy for him to fall over every time anyone's near him but he doesn't.

Refs favouring them? Seriously? So the penalty that wasn't given for the foul on Pedro and Messi's disallowed goal were what exactly? The RvP sending off was a poor but for all their possesion and territory, where were all the free kicks from the dives and biased refs?

Messi is probably the most fouled player in the world but he never complains about it....just gets back up and carries on.

He truly is a superb player but i feel Barca rely on him far too much.

There's a truth in that. The way they play they are reliant on someone having the ability and speed of thought to wriggle through small gaps and there's nobody better in the world at that than Messi

Plus if you take Messi out of their side then the opposition wont be as scared or worried about where he is on the pitch....
