Ex-Chester Owner Jailed

by Stretts » 15 Mar 2011 16:34

"Former Chester owner Stephen Vaughan has been jailed for 15 months after fracturing a Policeman's cheekbone.

The Judge called Vaughan's assault of PC Gregory Dutton 'nastly' and 'cowardly' after he attacked the officer when he called at his house to confirm the address of his son, Stephen junior, after details the former Chester footballer gave to the PC had a discrepancy. Vaughan's son, and his friend Paul Garner, both received six month community orders after admitting threatening behaviour.

Vaughan Snr took over at Chester in 2001 after taking Barrow into liquidation and reportedly handed the club to his son in 2009 prior to it going into Administration, before re-assuming control after the club was repurchased by a company owned by his family. He was then banned from being a company director shortly after for his involvement in £500,000 of VAT carousel fraud - leading him to become the first person to fail the FA's 'fit and proper person' test.

Chester went bust finally in March 2010, again with Vaughan jnr the claimed owner, and Vaughan snr went on to make a recent attempt to take over Wrexham
."

Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.
