Fergie gets 5 match ban

Well done the FA for growing a pair!!

It is in effect a 3 match ban plus the 2 match suspended he had hanging over him; no doubt his friends in the meejay will bleat that its too harsh, but I think its about time the FA stomped on managers who basically question a ref's integrity. I hope Wenger takes note.

You can say a ref has got something wrong - that's fair enough IMO if you can back it up but you should still do it with a sense of perspective and respectfully.

Questioning a ref's integrity should involve the whole library being chucked, let alone just the rule book.

Impressed they did this but in reality, what's the point of a touchline ban?

Agreed.
We should follow the European example of the manager being banned from the ground altogether on those match days as under our system he can still speak to the players in the dressing-room beforehand and at half-time so no big deal that he can't stand by the touchline chewing and looking at his watch.

I thought the touchline ban means that the manager has absolutely no contact with the players at all during the game, which includes the pre-match and half time. Or have I got this wrong?

Read the FA have different regulations to FIFA.

As the guys above have said its pretty ineffective TBH and it won't make him stop commenting when asked after matches.

I think the issue of player respect might be a bigger issue?

Not sure the media help in post match interviews as often the first question is something about the officials!
