Scunny sack Manager

Ok, a couple of things here; 1. How many people knew this guy was Scunny Manager? (I didn't). and 2. ok, they lost last night to Preston, but have had recent victories against Forest, Swansea and (less impressively) Shef Utd.... seems an odd time to sack the guy really.

Apparantly Brian Laws is being lined up to be their new Manager......

1. I did.

2. Agreed - although maybe they're already planning for next season in L1 and want to get Laws before he potentially gets snapped up in the summer by another club.

The sad fact is that the only way that Scunny can survive without going into administarion is to be relegated.

If they stay up, its their third year in tier 2 and so they have to, by law, convert to be all-seater. They can't afford to do this.

They onkly way they can survive, financailly, is to be relagated - and I cannot believe that this hasn't downed on their owners.

The law is an utter ass here.

I did

And I guess it's a decision to give someone time to get to know the team for next season.

Suppose the owners don't want to let down the fans. I was up there when they drew against us meaning they were safe and it meant so much to them.

They'd find a way if it wasn't for that shambolic result, thought they might survive again but can't see it now.

Standards need to be set though, it is a shame that they cannot afford to alter the ground, what they really needed was promotion to the Prem, then buy some seats from the pot of gold.

There is only one standing area left, so surely they can either add seats or close it.

To be fair, you called the unsustainability when they came up.

Baraclough was a gamble and always a disaster waiting to happen. But as Dirk says, maybe they need the relegation and so appointing the right man wasn't necessarily a priority at the time. All seems a bit strange though. Not sure Brian Laws would be a step forwards either.

Adkins ...their way back then physio, was their real gamble

two 0-3's on the bounce, the loss of key players (Woolford etc) hasn't helped

this seasons 3 point donation from the Madstad could be costly to us, and wasted for them

As an aside, did anyone spot that our old friend Andy Hughes played for Scunny in the 0-3 defeat to Preston? He got a facial injury and had to go off after 35 minutes. He had stitches in his lip and in his nose. According to Tony Daws, the man placed in temporary charge at Scunny, he phoned him up several times on Wednesday to tell him that he would be fit to play on Saturday. Always had the right attitude did Andy :)

having seen that he had slid off of the Leeds Utd radar since their cup eliminations...I had wondered what he was doing now

As you say..great attitude, beautiful wife, hairy arms and a few decent goals for us

According to the Chairman in that BBC report, Baraclough was earmarked for the job for 2 years before Adkins left, so not really a gamble from the Chairman's perspective.

If he had that much faith in him he shood have stuck with him. Poor judgement.
