The concourse zoo

by FiNeRaIn » 06 Apr 2011 15:47

Sick of walking into the madstad needing a face mask because of the smell of piss spreading through the concourse. Not to mention the broken toilets, rubbish all over the floor from previous games scattered against the back wall. The ketchup and mustard containers covered with dirty serviettes and sticky papers. I've come to the conclusion that its like we are all animals in a zoo in there. I've never experienced a more unhealthy atmosphere in a modern day stadium than at the madejski. It was never this bad in recent years as it has been the last few months, have the club sacked the cleaning staff to make cuts? God forbid anyone brings any foreign mates to a game and having them go away thinking its normal to smell of piss.

Really ridiculous.

Is there anywhere where that would be considered funny?

East. Mainy y25/26 area but does extend down to y24. The stench of piss is frankly that strong.

They're trying to make it more like the Southbank. I like it.

I've never experienced this smell you speak of Finerain. :|

I would agree that there aren't that many bins about and it's sometimes hard to get to the ones that are there with people all stood in front of them with their drinks etc - but I wouldn't say the concourse is full of rubbish.

I was also in the East Stand area last night and thought the place looked tatty but not too serious. The mustard and ketchup dispensers were indeed dirty however.

Once again however I found myself up the Jazz Cafe at half time, which really is hilariously tacky. The tables are in desperate need of a clean. Hardly evocative of the chic "jazz" atmosphere they appear to be striving for. The staff in there are a bit thick too.

As i was walking along outside (north east corner) there was a distinct smell of blocked toilets and rubbish.
Also it amazes me how a trail of either pee or water comes out of the mens toilets. How can people let themselves go like that.
