If it was a tight title race in the Premier League....

by rhroyal » 23 Apr 2011 16:58

It would be the most exciting Premier League season since its creation, and quite possibly is anyway. Discuss.

Despite being 22, I only got into football around 2000. I was hampered by a family who couldn't care a less. I'm aware that epic title races involving Newcastle and Blackburn could have beaten this season.

However, this is the most exciting Premier League season I've seen. Relegation scrap is epic, race for Europe is tight. Clubs have gone through extreme ups and downs (Liverpool, Blackpool, Sunderland, West Brom, Everton). Most of all, it truly does appear to be a league where most teams can beat each other, or at least be competitive with each other. More so than any season I can previously remember.

EDIT: What brought this thought on was another Saturday afternoon filled with buckets of goals, some of which are supposedly top notch. Once again, I have to watch MOTD this evening.

Isn't this always rolled out at around this time every season? It's been decent, but I'm not sure you could say it was the best.

Jesus. Football started way before 1992.

The most exciting title race was Arsenal beating Liverpool to the title by the last kick of the season. I couldn't believe it especially the first goal shouldn't have been given.

Michael Thomas scored the second goal, didn't he? :|

Bloody hell Spacey. You need to show Arsenal some tender love m8.
Its an ok Premiership. Sky over-hype it and as you say football did exist before 1992.
The title race is dead and buried. Compare that with 1972 when Cloughy's Derby won it whilst on the beaches of Majorca wasn't it?........when two or three others all had a chance of the title in the final few days.
This season's Prem is nothing special. Doubtless next season's Premiership will be the best ever according to Sky.

It's close but it's not really exciting as all the contenders for the title have spent large parts of the season being shit/boring/bottling it.

'greed. United have a comfy enough lead and have had for ages. It's between City and Spurs for 4th (less so Spurs now it seems), and no 'big club' one gives a fcuk about the Europa League.

Relegation is interesting for as long as West Ham stay in the bottom three, otherwise couldn't care less.

So what you're saying is this thread is completely pointless.

What I'm saying is that this is the most exciting relegation battle I've seen, one of the most exciting races for Europe I've seen and there have been a lot of ups and downs for many teams. Most importantly, it's the most even Premier League I've seen. Very few results "given" with all teams relatively competitive against each other. There's more to a league than the title race.

Yes it does albeit in a strange and deeply warped way. It shows you care.

So does that mean he shouldn't have any knowledge at all about previous Premiership/old First Division campaigns pre 2000?

No but it probably means that he doesn't know about the top division pre-premiership due to Sky etc never talking about it

^ Enough of this TBM. Onto more important matters. That fit weather presenter that you had a "crush" on is back on the tv I've noticed.
